I was surfing the Brisbane Ford dealer sites and they only list XR6 or XR8 ?
Has the Falcon and G6E been quietly cancelled?????

Check ford.com.au and you will see the entire Falcon range is still listed.

You would still expect them to be listed? Or else how are people going to know they are still available??????

They are listed. I just looked at a Brisbane dealer and its on there. I think you're talking about cars they have in stock. They aren't going to stock everything.

I saw a G6E turbo in stock at Byrne Ford at Chermside a little while ago, so they do sometimes stock them. That said, there was a while there when there wasn't one Falcon on the lot.

There is are 2 FG X G6E Turbos at Nova Ford. One with 6kms and the other has 50kms. Arguably demos.
Couple of salespeople I spoke to said that if you don't order your Falcon by March you wont get it. |

Not sure why salespeople are saying if you don't order your falcon by march you won't get it, since when does it take 7 months to build a falcon.

The whole lineup is screwy. The one possible combo that could of been popular with private buyers is the 2.0 litre Ecoboost in XR6 form but they don't offer it. And the one combo that was a hit with chauffeurs, ComCar and silver service cabs the G6E EcoLPI was canned.. Sure there is a conspiracy there somewhere

I dont believe anything car salesmen say. I remember visiting a Penrith Ford dealership a long time ago and the twit told me the cashmere interior in Falcons had been discontinued. It wasnt. Although in the FGX it has been replaced with that awful orange crap.

G6E lpi sales outside of Ford's own fleet were real low - its a great car though - just no one bought it
XR6 ecoboost - might have sold more than the other variants - but not many of those sold either. Hard to market too - its an XR6 with a 4 cylinder but its not an XR4.. The less cars sold put more pressure on line up complexity so ........... |

They would of kept the XR6 name as the G6E Ecoboost kept the '6'. XR6 Ecoboost would of been a good Mazda6, Accord Euro, Liberty competitor but with a decent rear wheel drive drivetrain.

My G6 LPi is what got my boss ordering a G6E LPi, and several other colleagues also got G6 LPis after seeing how well they went (our only fleet alternative was diesel or hybrid cars - a limited range).
I agree with the sentiment about dropping the G6E LPi - there's numerous silver service cabs running them, and I've been in more than 1/2 a dozen - most of the drivers tell me they like the shallow, flat boot floor better than fitting a tank into a petrol one. One guy even remarked his previous car was a Statesman, and the boot depth & shape was similar, so it wasn't an issue for him. The only downside is the lack of rear legroom compared to the WM/WN Caprice alternative. I do a lot of km (over 40K/yr) and LPi makes sense for me. To update my FG I would consider buying a late production FGX G6E, but only in LPi. If I wasn't doing the km I do, then an XR8 would have been ordered by now. They are simply great cars, great Aussie cars, regardless of the red vs blue crap. |

Ford may be telling the dealers a cut off date to get orders in to get order quantities sorted. The time may be a bit longer but the plant shuts at the beginning of October so there wouldn't be enough time to do another order after.

In March last year I read an article entitled: "Is the Falcon ute dead?"
Was it true? When was the last time you saw an FGX ute? So I ordered an XR6 ute which was delivered in July 2015. It had been my intention to get one of the last Falcon utes, the article made me buy sooner. I still don't see FGX Falcon utes around, but then again I don't live in a highly populated area. It would have been nice to get a V8 as my previous ute was an AUIII XR8. I dunno why Ford doesn't make them. It is not the power I am after but rather the SOUND of the V8 I also note that Ford are hinting at a final blast for the ute? Maybe it is a Sprint? I can't see them upping the turbo power for the ute - what a weapon that would be - it would be a little hard to control methinks. |
