ford territory remove and replacing longer wheel stud

Just need some advise about ford territory AWD removing old factory studs and replacing longer n wheels stud.
what l am trying to find out if hub have to be remove from axles before replace longer stud due fitting 12 mm space for my new rim ??

12mm is a lot for a spacer and also very illegal.

Yeah, I've been where you are.

12mm is pretty extreme for a spacer. I wouldn't want to do that.
Unless the spacer is a perfect fit, it's going to put a lot of stress on those new studs.

If you need 12mm, you should consider using adaptors. They should provide a much firmer mount.

And whilst I assume the reason you're doing this is to avoid the rubbing of wider tyres, at 12mm I'd be starting to worry about how far you're pushing the outer edge.

Pretty sure your insurance company has justification to deny claims on the basis of non compliant modifications as well.

Yes, the hubs will need removal to do the work neatly and safely. This means four new pac nuts to buy.

If the spacer has a centring boss and matching counterbore, and made of material no weaker than the wheel hub it is pretty safe at 12mm. I worry more about the zoned-out legions of motorists who plague our roads.

What wrong with this ??
Running a 12 mm hub-centric spacer (not adapter w/studs). Just used some longer ARP lug studs to make up the difference.
As long is done properly .
New rim is only 10 mm wider inside so i add two mm make up 12 mm to be on safeside

any comment ??

Spacers are usually made of alloy, to limit the impact on balance, so are very much weaker than the hub.
But the issue really isn't the strength of the spacer. The issue is the potential for extra stress on the studs and hubs.

If you're buying new rims, then why not just get ones with the right offset?
Only reason I contemplated spacers was to keep the Genuine Rims.

Besides, it's not the rims you have to worry about, it's the tyres. What size tyres are you planning to fit?

I actually think the Hub adaptor with its own studs engineering wise is safer.

using longer studs I think is the issue. either way they are both deemed illegal.

Though I run 25mm hubs on the rear of mine myself. purely for aesthetic reasons to get the wheels lining up with the Guards as Fords design department couldn't..

I'm quite confident it will never be an issue with any insurance claim.

Front is a small problem due the front hub assembly and rear is ok so what i have been told the rim will fit the falcon not the territory by the manufacture and so i took the gamble my self . Rim is only 10 mm wider inside rub front hub assembly but not the outside and the new set of tyres are standard size on 19 inches rims Cheers

have brought 25 mm and remove studs and machine until i got 12 mm width and remove short studs off the hubs and replacing longer studs

Putting spacers on the front and not the rear will further accentuate the terrible offset they have - it will look like a 70 series
Ditch the 19" Falcon rims, they probably are not even strong enough for the SUV and get some 20" like everyone else - the tyres are cheaper and it will look a whole lot better
