Good luck with quitting.

I won't sugar coat it and say it is easy and that you won't be cranky because quite frankly there are cravings and narky moments.

Will power will get you through it and you will feel so much better once you have gotten past that dreaded 3 days

If you love coffee, it will taste and smell sooooooo much better once your not smoking

Good luck

Good luck with it.

I myself am a smoker, I want to quit one day for health reasons and because they seem to be banning it everywhere making it harder, however I also seem to enjoy it (please, no flaming). Every day that I wake up and decide on the spot to quit, I usually only ever last until lunchtime, or at best until about 4pm, and then I cave. Usually these days happen to unfold pretty damn bad though for some reason. Its like deciding to quit that morning is a crap magnet!

I wish you all the best with your quitting, and perhaps post up how you do it, let us know what products (if any) you use in the process - and keep giving us daily updates.

Out of interest, how much on average were you smoking a day, and what strength?

Every time I read about how people live's are run by the tobacco companies, I thank my lucky stars that I was given the wisdom to never get hooked or even try tobaco in any form.

I wish you luck. Just remember that your life is not your own so long as the big tobacco companies keep you addicted.

well, you're off to a good start by letting people know that your behaviour may change over the next few days/weeks.

i quit smoking about 8 years ago and it was hard. if you drink coffee, try to stop that for a while too. don't get on the turps over the next few weekends and learn to appreciate to be able to 'taste' the flavour in foods again, which won't take long to notice.

good luck and i hope you do it.

I gave up smoking, it was easy really.

Every time I felt like a smoke, I’d have a glass of scotch instead. :hihi: :baby bott

Just joking. Good luck with it all.

good on ya, that takes guts and real heart. Good luck with it hope you hang in there, maybe you'll get lucky and find someone to beat the crap out of when you get cravings. Not only will things taste better but quite frankly people smell better when they dont smoke, cos its a lingering odour that just doesnt go away.

Good luck with it mate.

My girlfriend is currently quitting smoking and it is extremely hard to live with her at the moment. I try to do my best to understand but at times it can be very trying.

Hang in there, not only will your body appreciate it but your wallet will too.

mate, all I can say is good luck!
I have tried so many times to quit, even throwing a full deck out as a symbol of my commitment, only to go down the street and buy more the next day.
I hope it works out for you Pal!

Seriously though, good luck and remember to count to ten and breathe.

my brother quit after many, many years. He used the 3 method. aim for 3 days. when you can go 3 days, aim for 3 weeks. then 3 months etc. apparently those sort of short term goals are achievable and you can get the satisfaction from knowing you can reach each milestone (or is it now kilometre rock?)

Last year, i too gave up the cigs. I was a smoker for 10 years. It was suprisingly very easy, and the motivation got greater when i realised how much better i felt.

I slept better, got up in the morning more refreshed, and was energetic all day long, and was not running out of breath, and my back pain went away.

That lasted 6 months.

Needless to say.........im just steping outside for a breather now. :yeees:

My dad has given up many times in the past and now only sticks to having a smoke on new years. He found nicobate chewys the best thing and always keeps lollies in his car (as he drives all day long). Spose because they keep you distracted. Try to keep busy to keep your mind off it. Good luck!!

well day 2 today. feeling good, feeling better. havent really had cravings at all which im finding to be weird. everyone says its really hard to quit, yet ive found it to be pretty easy actually. havent hit the fridge up heaps, havent been all snappy and grumpy. strange.
maybe theres just a massive dose of nicotine in my body still? maybe the worst is yet to come?
anyway, sleep last night was one of the most different experiences ive had for a long time.
it was like my brain was on sensory overload or something. weird dream after weird dream.
did have a good sleep though and actually woke up refreshed for a change.
breathing HAS become a lot easier and deeper already.
this has to be one of the best decisions ive had yet.
if anyone else is considering it, just do it. if you fail, who cares. at least you tried.

quiting is easy, or atleast for me, until someone hands you a beer. I've quit several times for periods up to and exceeding a year, and its always after a bender that I take up again. Next time I'll quit drinking as well.

Well done, it is easy when you have the 'want' to actually succeed.
The bad taste does go, but simply put your body is de-toxing.

I found that the dreams I had for the first few weeks were rather vivid and lets just say interesting.

I actually lost a bit of weight while giving up as I had more energy to burn and refused to eat any junk (only gained one habit after quitting, and that was my Friday night ritual with mates going to the kebab shop : )

Good luck and keep going, your doing an awesome job.

If you feel you might slip up, get on here and write in your thread, re-read this thread and that might help

day 6 today.
havent slipped up, not even once.
had the few odd desires here and there but i think that was more of a habit thing than a craving.
that bad taste has gone and food is tasting a lot better.
oh, something i have noticed now: smokers really do smell!
