Got a funny problem with my NF Fairlane. When the engine is running all the lights from instruments to headlights flicker. They dont when the motor is stopped. Anyone had the same problem? Tony M

Bad alternator, or the voltage regulator on the alternator is gone and putting out A/C voltage instead.

Yep, either the alternator or volt regulator. In the AU Falcon's the volt reg is actually inside the alternator.
Use a multimeter to test the voltage of the alternator output at the battery terminals. The DC volts should be between 12 and 15v, most likely around 13.8V to 14.2V NB Do NOT disconnect the alternator output leads, it will therefore open circuit and potentially blow the diodes which make up the volt reg pack.
