why do we need to pay for insurance twice? if you have comp insurance why do we need to pay CTP? we're not getting twice the insurance.

Erm... Comp insurance only insures the car. CTP insures the people inside, except the driver.

Hmmm.

I've got my renewal notice which was due in June. Wonder if they'll try upping the price on me when I go to pay in two weeks time.
Or maybe that's what the $40 late payment fee is for.

Edit- Just checked online, same price.

Its an absolute load of crap really. I wouldn't have as much of an issue if 80% of brisbane roads weren't shocking to drive on

: Thanks very much Anna Bligh!!!!!
Robbing motorists blind with 15-20% increase in rego and removing the 8 cents a litre subsidy.
Oh and what a surprise that now Brisbane people are paying more than motorists in Sydney.
So much for the smart state! :

Time to speak to the local member, get them to make this an issue next election.

Hitting the motorists with dramatic with fuel and registration rises at the same time is sure to cause a backlash.

The biggest problem is that when the next election comes , this will be forgotten. Good news in the election year con. Captain Bligh is soooo sneaky !!! AND we have no credible opposition.

+ $80 or so extra for utes as well

Fuel has jumped 20c here in 2 weeks, the subsidy was only 8c and they reckoned we weren't getting it all anyway.

If you think Brisbane roads are bad dont come any further North!!

CTP insurance indemnifies vehicle owners and drivers who are liable for personal injury to any other person in the event of a motor vehicle accident
It does not cover anyone's property

Third Party Property insurance covers you for damage your vehicle causes to other peoples property

Comprehensive does the above, and repairs your vehicle.

You hear of people who are still paying off debts for hitting a traffic light or a Mercedes 10 years later

rego goin up, not to mention power prices etc that are dearer up north than brissy etc because we dont have any powerstations.

as for traffic improvemant,if the government was serious about reducing road tolls they would put 2 lanes each way from brissy to cairns and from townsville to the NT border.

travelling between Ayr and Townsville is becoming a joke, especially school holiday times when all the caravans hit the road doing 80 and with very few overtaking lanes.usually by the time you get to an overtaking lane a b double or 2 will be in front of you and take the whole overtaking area to get past a slower car leaving a string of frustrated traffic behind it.
i can imagine that type of scenario is seen all the way up the coast....but the qld government seems to neglect up north so we definitely wont be holding our breath for decent roads.

And the southerners are saying in the other fuel thread "why are you Qlders complaining about fuel - whingers!'. It's becuase we are getting shafted on the fuel and shafted severly on the rego.

Anna has to go......

Governments don't win elections, they loose them at the polls & this is what I think Anna will do next election. Problem is the opposition will see how much money is being taken won't change a bloody thing

From my Canadian cousins, yesterday.."Here is a good one the government have just started----We used to pay $74 for a yearly car sticker on our plate number, now we have to pay the $74 + $60 for vechicle tax + $1 for administration, so the total now is $135 not bad eh!!!!! " AND THEY ARE COMPLAINING !!! I wouldn't if my rego was $135 a year !!
