Angry 1965 Shelby Cobra Stolen

$488,000 sports car stolen from NSW North Coast home

Date
November 24, 2012 - 5:03PM

A rare sports car, with an almost half a million dollar price tag, has been stolen from a property on the NSW central coast.

The 1965 Shelby Cobra was stolen sometime on Thursday night from a home in Picketts Valley.

The owner of the vintage silver and black car, worth an estimated $488,000, noticed it was gone at 5.30am on Friday morning.

Anyone who might spot the rare vehicle, with number plates BB91FY is urged to contact police.

There is no end to the speed at which some theives are rushing to the bottom!! I hope the car comes back in one piece. But somehow I doubt it. A two hundred dollar GPS tracker could have had the car back alreday.....

It is sad that people do this, but a $100 GPS hammer would make the GPS tracker useless, I am guesing the thieves more than likely have one.

Enough with the keyboard warriors.

Every mention of murder or grievous violence from here will draw a warning.

XISLED, I agree with you but GPS hammers (jammers?) are availanle from $39. See here "http://www.getprice.com.au/Covert-Portable-GPS-Jammer-Gpnc_13--51128091.htm" Sold as personal security.

Cheap car like any of us drive gets stolen, you can bet it's either some joyrider or possibly a thief stealing to order for parts or to resell after a few changes.

Expensive classic like this gets stolen, you just know it's for a special purpose. It's probably overseas already unfortunately.

jammer or hammer, both would work to stop a gps device. i don't know how you go about registering a stolen car, but probably easy if you know the right people.

Most use both GPS and a backup. If they lose signal, you get a call immediately to get you to check your asset.

Owner must be devastated

Given the car was stolen over a year ago, I imagine the insurance claim would have been settled. If the car is recovered now, I assume it would be the property of the insurance company.

I believe this to be correct. The owner has the option of buying it back off the insurance company for whatever the settlement was, or for an agreed price if the car has been devalued due to damage etc.

Maybe should keep an eye on the auctions might be goin cheap.

Although I'd still need to sell my house to buy it
