Why did they drop pricing? Seems like as long as ships get in they are all sold beforehand?

That's what Tesla has traditionally done. They keep dropping prices as components get cheaper. It's why Hertz, etc stopped buying them because it hurt resale with the price drops.

Teslas view is very different to legacy. They will increase and drop in line manufacturing cost.

Also, because they can and still remain profitable per unit. Few more competitors entering the market so better to get ahead of them.
