Hey guys, I have taken a while to get my car sorted but over the last few years i had been keeping an eye on the NSW Muscle Car Association as a potential club to hook up with once it was finished.
I have sent a few membership requests through the facebook group that I am part of, and have now noticed that the website has shut down. Does anyone know anything about them? has it been shut down? I am looking for a club in NSW that I can cruise with occasionally....I was also toying with the idea of putting club plates on it. I have a Cortina that I have put a 347 in so GT clubs etc are out. I am in Western Sydney....any help would be appreciated. Thanks Cheers

The NSWMCA is still alive and well. I am pretty sure their charter is for factory or stock muscle cars possibly with minor period mods. I am thinking your car may not meet the criteria. That shouldn't stop you getting a reply though. Their facebook page last had activity yesterday afternoon.

Cannot put club plates on modified cars, at all.
Yes, people do it, and yes, many get away with it, but you will get caught, and clubs turning a blind eye to the abuse will be losing their rego privileges. There is a system that will be introduced soon, that will allow legally modified cars over 30 years to be registered on club rego - catering to those with different wheels, custom paint etc, but a V8 conversion in a Cortina will still need all the engineering & stuff that it would before it can get regular rego. You may be better off waiting until the classic scheme is introduced, and then find a club who will accept modified vehicles on their club rego. Clubs will have to opt-in for the classic scheme, and feedback has been that some clubs focussed on vintage or factory original cars won't be willing to opt-in. |

Yes its been engineered since 2005 when it had a stock 302 in it. I will just pay my normal rego this year and hopfully they introduce something that includes modified vehicles. Thanks for the info mate. If the NSWMCA doesnt take modified vehicles....has anyone got any recommendations in Sydney for a club that organises regular cruises at all?

Go on Facebook there are so many different muscle car clubs, at least 4 of them Sydney based.
they are posting event details for something every weekend, go attend a few runs and see which you like best, then join one. I'm sure there is the small ford car club in Sydney as well. |
