Default FORD person or FALCON person?????

Are you a FORD person, or are you a FALCON person.

In short, after October 2016 will you move on and look for a model line that floats your boat that , or will Ranger, Mondeo, Focus ect keep you happy?

No more new fords for me. Purchasing a second hand one still supports dealer network and workshop so that is what it will be from now on

Well, until I bought the Territory I was a Falcon person. Now I am a Falcon AND Territory person.

Whilst I can imagine myself in another Ford other than a Falcon or Territory, if they think I am going to swallow their yank imports as some kind of cynical replacement, they're fooling themselves.

I will be keeping my Falcon and GT falcon for years to come. I still have my 30 year old Victa so won't be any different.

Definitely a Ford man. I've had 5 Falcons but I've also had 2 Fiestas. I love their global design language and the attitude to handling, particularly with their small cars. I wonder if any of the people concerned about buying imported products shop at K-Mart these days...?

It is hard for me, I grew up with Ford, dad worked there for 37 Years.

We had to watch Bathurst in the 70's, I mean we were not allowed to not watch. Dad passed away last year, Sort of feels like that "My Grandfathers Clock" song that we used to sing in Primary school to me.

When any new model of XR8 or GT was released, I couldn't wait for Wheels or Motor to come out, and I would barrack for the Ford like it was a Footy match, and either feel elated or disappointed at the result.

Unfortunately, I have no interest in front drive. I have my GT and a Camry. I never smile when I drive the Camry. I will be looking elsewhere for a car that I am passionate about in the future.

My last wish is for it to go out with a bang, a GT to end all GT's.

The Falcon deserves it.

Does ford shutting shop mean no more falcon? Or just an imported falcon?

I remember when holden said no more aussie v8, people cried in the streets but then the LS1 came and the tears dried up pretty quick..

Maybe Falcon might go forward?

Ford will NEVER die in this country! They've done it in the past & they'll do it again - when the new *Aussie built lithe large car hits the market every one will LOVE IT!

*Aussie spec 400kg lighter, less power but same p/w ratio (well heres hoping lol!)

cheers, Maka

If you keep buying even the imported Fords then you are indirectly supporting those of us that are left. Ford motor Company profit funds the ongoing development work here in Australia. If you refuse to buy the imported Fords on principal then as far as I'm concerned you are putting the boot in to the 1000+ engineers still employed here after 2016

Ford meant more to me than the Falcon did.
I grew up in the 80's and saw more of the Sierras racing than I did Falcons.
I grew up seeing the WRC with the escorts and Focus.
We had many Falcons in our family (I had 2), but really they held no sentimental value.

Two points:

1) There will still be 10 year old Falcons in 2026 and 20 year old Falcons in 2036 so nothing much will change for many.

2) Ford have a whole line up of vehicles to which we have never had access. Should there be a Mustang GT for $50k or some other RWD/AWD Ford sedan that is Falcon sized and costs less than a currnet Falcon then it would be worth looking at.

It is quite ironic the number of people who are screaming about this yet were all in favor of direct importing to save money.......

Ford have some of the best cars in their class in the Fiesta, Focus, Mondeo and Ranger. There is more to their range than just Falcon And Terry.

Its a shame that they are closing up manufacturing in Australia, its a big blow for our industry (I work in manufacturing so I know what it means). I wont cry over loosing the Falcon though; not because its not a good car, its a great car, but because there will be something available to fill the gap. Mustang, Taurus (maybe), the other European and Asian developed cars now filtering out.

It's an antiquated approach to have blind loyalty to one brand anymore. I will buy whatever car suits my needs.

Currently, that's a WRX.

If I needed a dual cab 4x4 it would be a Ford Ranger.

If I needed a small hot hatch it would be a RenaultSport Clio.

If I needed a decent sized family wagon it would be a Liberty.

As others have pointed out, Ford has fantastic product aside from the Falcon, and the range is set to expand.

Be sad about the Falcon, but be enthusiastic about Ford's future!

Just remember that Australian engineers will be having input into future Ford products so a little bit of Australia will still be there (I like to think that anyway).
