2020 Ford Escape Spied With Little Camo
Jan 04, 2019 at 12:53pm By: Chris Bruce, Editor https://www.motor1.com/news/299818/f...rom%20%251%24s There are big changes at the front and rear for the updated Escape. In this fresh batch of refreshed Ford Escape spy shots, the Blue Oval's engineers strip off a little camouflage to provide a better look at the upcoming update for the popular crossover. Look for a full debut in the second half of 2019 for the 2020 model year. This Escape wears a mesh grille that replaces the existing crossbars in the front end. The headlights have a sharper shape, too. Vertically oriented driving lights are now in the fascia to replace the existing, more square-shaped lamps. In profile, the beltline gains a more gradual curve to the C-pillar. At the back, there are completely different taillights that have a more extended shape than the current ones. The camouflage makes the tailgate design hard to see, but it appears to have less sculpted, flatter styling than on the existing crossover. |

Really hope this makes it to the Australian market in a timely manner, not the usual delay that it usually takes to get new models launched here.

It’s a looks very much like a smaller version of the Edge/Endura, in a similar way to the Mazda CX-5 and CX-9.

Looking at the profiles of Focus, Focus Active and Escape reminds me of the Mazda 3, CX-3 and CX-5
even though CX-3 is a subcompact, I think there is a kinda parallel with the Focus Active..sorta. A new Ecosport that looked like CX-3 would also be kinda cool, perfect for our market tastes..sorta. Edit, Sorta = I'm hoping the Ford grille will look a little better with a blue oval in there... |

To me - EcoSport = CX3 Focus Active = Subaru XV (i.e no equiv. Mazda model) Escape = CX-5 I know people are saying Endura is a Kluger / CX-9 competitor, but I'm thinking Endura will end up replacing Mondeo if it can sell in similar numbers (and we may get 2l Ecoboost Endura when Mondeo dies), and if FoA can get a business case up, Explorer will be true Terry replacement and competitor for Kluger / CX-9 / Navara. That then becomes a pretty decent lineup. |

The older Edges were were actually based on CX-9 platform but more CX-7 size.
2.0 EB Endura replacing Mondeo has a lot of merit, I hope Ford is listening.. Heard a rumor that next gen Edge may be going RWD CD6, we'll wait and see on that one. Last edited by jpd80; 07-01-2019 at 07:50 PM. |

We need as many different SUV's as we can get if they are going to stop production of passenger vehicles. |

Aviator replaces the MKT, Corsair replaces the MKC. Not sure without loooking them up, where those will be assembled.

Confirmed for Australia
Ford will kickstart its rollout of electrified vehicles in Australia with the new Escape, released today and set to touch down in 2020. “We’re proud to bring the first of our global electrified vehicles to Australian customers in the stylish and capable all-new Escape,” said Ford Australia and New Zealand president and CEO, Kay Hart. "Australians continue to embrace SUVs, which is why we are introducing our first plug-in hybrid powertrain with this vehicle.” The new Ford Escape will touch down in 2020. We've contacted Ford for more concrete timing, and will update the story when it becomes available.

Baby Bronco more like it in Australia. From most news articles it appears the Bronco will be US only.
Ford are taking 2 directions with SUV's, making the Escape more car like, essentially a higher riding Focus wagon with next to no off road ability, and bringing in the baby Bronco above it for people who do want to go off road. And yes I know that the current Escape is Focus based but the new one is even closer to Focus, and made more car like to drive. It's a good strategy, opening up potential buyers with different interests. |

Love the glasshouse and the interior, but the front and rear end to my eyes are awful. I hope it grows on me.

Euro spec Kuga. Presumably this is the ST-Line version with a different front end. Looks heaps better.
https://www.topgear.com/car-news/suv...-new-ford-kuga Images in the linked article. I was going to post the image, but it's way too big.
