So I consider myself to be very lucky to have a company car at the age of 20. I drive a fully optioned FG XR6 Ute. My boss recently approached me about putting some number plates on the car that he has had in storage at the RTA. The number plates are V8UTES, we had them from when we had a replica V8 Race Ute. Being that he is the boss and he pays my wages I agreed to put them on the car.
I must say I was not expecting the backlash I have received from other motorists. I constantly get over taken at full noise by V8 Commodores and the odd Falcon trying to illustrate the point that their car is a V8 and mine isn't. I've also seen a few times now of people taking photos of my plates whilst sitting in traffic. I also get people who fly up beside me and just stare at me. So my question is why all the hate? Why do people fell the need to go out of there way to make their point? Not as though I'm trying to pass it off as being an XR8, all the badges are on there, haven't done anything to deceive anyone.... besides the plates I don't really let it get to me just having a little rant. |

Hate?
What did you think commy drivers would do when they spot a xr6 with v8utes plates on it? And they Stare at you? get your windows tinted if you don't like them looking at who put the plates on, or remove the plates

Goes to show you really how completely stuffed some people are. Letters on a number plate upset them???? I'm happy to wake up in the morning.
Man, just smile and completely ignore them, there stuffed in the head. |

What, you think you are an orphan?
Try driving around in a T3 or a BF Cobra (or any other in-your-face car) for a week. At least they only buzz you after they read the plates. And - It doesn't stop at commy drivers.... |

Lol what a pack of 'anchors'. Agreed with 54Ghia, put that on the tailgate and watch the angry people come out of the woodwork!
Commodore drivers usually look at me, then the badge, then slowly crawl off the lights. No one wants to even try |

i don't see the problem
if they want to race you, just drive normally and it won't matter how far down the road they are (or aren't) if they hate the fact your number plate has v8 on it when the car is just a six - who cares. there are too many morons that think they should have a say in what you have on your car - don't worry about them, they make less sense than chev badges on commode dores or my family stickers or fpv badges on fords or . . . . . . |

Checked commodore forums for a post like "check out this 6 cylinder fords numberplates"? Maybe as a revenge attack on the Ford people who insult commodores with chev badges.
Even though your plates would seem lame to anyone who doesn't know why you have them, it's still not as bad as having Holden T-shirts, Holden underwear, Holden bed sheets, Holden beach towel..... But Chev badges on your Commodore. |

There is a clear solution here.
Get a V8 ute. Just drop a few hints within ear shot of the boss... "Gee a falcon V8 sounds great! would compliment the number plate so much more" "Have you seen those V6 commodores with chev badges on them? terrible I say!" "Some guy threw a molotov cocktail at the ute, said something about not being a V8"

If we still had the "epic fail" thread (and the car was a SV6 with the said plate) there would be pics of it and everyone laughing...
Just sayin'
