Actually looks great value seeing what comes with standard. Optional panoramic sunroof which is cool too

More expensive, and more doors?

I'll stick with my WZ.

No 3 door option nor any word about Mountune performance package as factory option - lame.

It was $33,000 DA for the old man's WZ with Mountune option ticked.

He was keen on the new model but not without factory support for Mountune package.

Australian peso is weak against USD and EUR at the moment so I'm assuming that's the pricing discrepancy

Weak aussie dollar is becoming a factor for all manufacturers atm.

But the fully loaded standard inclusions is also a factor.

My MY16 WZ was $26k before ORC.

$32k before ORC is close to a 25% price hike.

I know it has more kit but ouch.

It's a bit of a price hike, alright cool it has some more features the only good ones are mechanical LSD, tyre package and changeable driving modes, the rest is fuzzy crap to pack out the specifications list.

Other than that only a modest power increase but it's also heavier than the outgoing WZ.

I feel that Ford have shot themselves in the foot with pricing the previous model in that mid $20K price range then trying to price the new model at mid $30K.

They would have been better off introducing previous model at that mid $30K mark and not have to battle to justify new pricing to existing customers on this model.

The existence of Fiesta ST is not dependent on sales in our market, so I expect Ford to hang tough on the price and sell to whoever wants to buy it at those prices. Clearly, Ford only had one version ordered for Aus ADR compliance so saved on all other versions it’s not bringing.

It’s just the way they are these days, they just want to sell loaded prices.

I've said it before when other new models have been introduced. it looks to me Ford believe their new lineups and pricing are sitting just below the premium Brands.
obviously there is resistance, especially when comparing to previous Models.
Endura is compared to Territory (perhaps that's why they didn't transition straight away)
some were ever comparing its pricing to that of a Falcon.

They are not interested in the bottom feeders it seems

will they succeed? time will tell.

If its too expensive maybe look at the Korean Brands, but you may find the equivalent Hyundai is no cheaper.

I think Endura will be toast once new Escape starts arriving
Inside it’s only slightly smaller but significantly lower priced.
I know that sounds like a contradiction but it looks like the
Europeans have already worked that out.

Amazing how as little as an extra 50mm in room here
and there can make, some vehicles just seem to be
better sided for our market than others.
Chinese Edge with 7seat and longer tail would seem to
be a better match for our Territory.

Profit is all that matters now. Not sales numbers in the bargain basement.

Leave that to Hyundai and Kia who make next to no profit when they do driveaway deals. One dealer suggested throwing in a free set of floor mats would see them losing a little bit on a driveaway i30.

no doubt this will be a great drive I recommend anybody to go take these for a test drive. I test drove the last ST what a cracker! Go kart chassis and great power.

I also owned a metal edition for 8 months and that was a great car.

Yet on my Picanto GTLine for drive away I got free mats, dash mat, scuff panels and footwell lighting, about $600 worth.
Perhaps they we're telling you porkies...

Well that's it, its competing in the small car market and if being a grat drive is your main factor you would probably consider the BMW 1 series being a RWD.
any way you woudl certainly cross shop between them
https://www.carsguide.com.au/bmw/1-series/vs/ford-focus

Endura I believe is a much better drive too, but in the SUV space people get hung up on 7 seats.
Maybe compare the Endura to the Evoque

Well done. I suppose the dealer showed you his profit/losses from the sale?

Can't see what that has to do with the i30 cause it's a different car and brand though.

You'd hope they would give you lots of freebies buying such an embarrassing car to drive.

I'm suspect on how they hold up to our conditions - we've got two of this generation Fiestas (MK7) a WS CL and WZ ST.

The WZ ST has 97,000km on it now just under 3 years since it was bought new, howling noise coming from front right wheel, rough idle and trims are rattling, serviced every 10,000km instead of 15,000km intervals.

WS CL is a decade old with 88,000km, the paint is completely toasted on the roof and bonnet and interior trim is all warped.

Not everyone needs 500HP to drive through city traffic to work every day.

You said leave it to Kia and Hyundai to make next to no profit on driveaway deals and then said they told you a set of mats for your i30 was costing them money, having worked in the industry I can tell you they we're having you on and you obviously fell for it, I gave them a little insight into my past and got showered with extra's.
Oh, the only thing embarrassing about my Picanto is all the female attention it commands, as opposed to your old man dinosaur which only attracts knuckle dragging 'enthusiasts'..

There's a lot of the Kia Picanto GT kicking about Melbourne, I come across them every morning.

They sell more Picantos than Mustangs recently.

This thread is about the Fiesta ST coming to Australia, not Kia Picantos or who can get the best deal by having the most accessories thrown at them.

Any further posts that are not about the Fiesta ST will be deleted.
