Default Backside fallen out of secondhand car market.?

I suppose its a combination of interest rates, fuel prices and general inflation but geez cars have become cheap.

In Dubbo today
1. A BA Ghia @ $12,990
2. A BF Falcon (last style of BF) for $18990
3. (this is the best) a 2005 Typhoon 6 spd manual with 39,000k for $34,995

And this is in Dubbo people! Normally Dubbo is dearer

So:

Anyone seen any other bargains?

I know a BA Turbo can be had off the lot for $~13,000

Its just amazing what you can get a great car for today!!!

You can thank Petrol prices if you want.

I've seen a lot of BA ghia's around the 10k mark.
Put one on gas and you're laughing.

Nobody wants to buy big barges when petrol is like this. Oh and Falcons have always had shite resale... petrol or no petrol hikes...

I didn't bother trading the EL when we got our new mazda... I would've gotten bugger all for it and besides which, who the hell wants my crappy 12 year old Falcon with more issues than national geographic?

I couldn't really understand this, i saw a few weeks back at prickles a BF MKII XR6T 06 build full leather, premium sound etc. with 60,000 on the clock for 24,000 car had no damage at all, & had all its books & was an ex telstra car or somthing, seems like a massive bargain for a really decent quick car! But considering all that i'd NEVER buy a brand new Ford/holden thats just huge depreciation!

petrols dropped down to around 1.50 a litre, more a case of high interest rates and new model cars coming out, which drags down prices.

Plenty of bargains to be had off the backs of those who need to sell. I'm only just resisting temptation but I want a house :(

It would be nice to hear from some of the forum's car dealers on this one.
I don't believe it is just the interest rates or fuel prices.
I think it is just consumers keeping their money in their pockets "just in case" it is needed for another purpose!

I think a lot of people would rather keep a roof over their head than have a fancy car though.

There was an 06 Fairmont in Qld I was going to buy... had 5300km on the clock, V8, 6 speed auto and because it was first sold in Sept 07 it had warranty till Sept 2010. Apparently was owned by Ford Credit and never used. They were asking $26890. I just missed out on it :(

Its like real estate and shares etc.. DON'T do whats trendy at the time..
Though be carefull!! The best time to buy is when everyone is selling...
