Default Near New FG X XR8

Anyone interested in getting a near new FG X XR8? This is advertised at $90k +orc. Wonder where it has been sitting for the last 6 years?

That’s an old car now. New ones are safer, and that also has no warranty. A smart buyer would prefer an Aurion.

My guess is the owner put it away for 'investment' but is trying to make their money in a current inflated market.

Edit: missed the dealer part

There is a similar case at the Stanthorpe Ford dealer. 2016 White FG-X XR8, ZF box etc. Has been on the showroom floor for years. I have stopped in there a few times to take a look, I asked about the warranty and the Sales Manager said that Ford made them register it in 2017 or so, because they didn't want it on their inventory anymore as an unsold new car.

Now, whether it was Head Office, or the DP that wanted it off the books as a new car, I don't know, but I would suspect the same would apply here and there would be no new car warranty with the sale...

He also said they had no real intention of actually selling it and the DP is a bit of a collector - but would certainly sell it for the right price to the right buyer.

I'm sure the warranty starts when the car is registered.

My 2016 car with a 5 years warranty expires in mid 2022. 5 Years after I bought it.
No idea if there's a limit though. 6 year old brand new car is a strange concept.

There a few going in the $50-60k range on the used car market which I consider a good buy. Low kays but it is a small market to pay $90k for it I reckon.

VIN check from the ad, vehicle was first registered with Ford 2/6/2015 meaning the warranty expired 2/6/2018 although it seems it has never been road registered.

I dont think this is worth $90K, that is FPV GT/GTF territory. I would say more like $50-60K. A Sprint would bring a little more.

Tell him he's dreamin'

FPVs and HSVs seem to be disappearig from the roads theze days. I rarely see them anymore.

This car would purely be a collectors item and not driven I suspect.

Unless you want 4 doors or don't plan on driving it, I would get a mustang for the extra tech and warranty and pocket the change.

If it's not worth it then find a other one on the same condition for a lower price? Would not be many to choose from!

But you're still buying a car that's a 7 year old series that is based on a 13 year old series. The whole advantage these cars had was that they were bang for buck rather than technical marvels.

You are approaching Audi RS3, BMW x340i (or M2CS), AMG C43 money, which are all a few generations ahead now.

Correct it's straight to collectable status. It's not a new car buyer that's attracted to it really. It's an enthusiast, warranty means absolutely nothing. If they still made them, then it might be different, however the low production numbers will ensure their value.

I guess a car is only worth what someone is willing to pay. So either no one wants it or they want too much for it. I really don't see these cars going up in value. They weren't really selling when they were building them so why would they sell for so much more now?

I bought my XR50 from the Stanthorpe dealer. It was the last new one in Australia available for sale. But I paid $1700 less than Ford's price.

Funny thing is, the original owner of this car had it listed for sale on justmusclecars.com.au on the 21st of November, 2020 for $59,000, so the dealer who purchased it are a pack of you know what’s!

agreed, no dis respect to the FGXXR8's mind you.
He's dreaming BUT IF someone wants and willing to pay up to them.

A 6000klm Sprint 8 sold at Austion the other day for $75,250.00.
Not bad to me for as mentioned at least its a LE.

superfly, I think you'll be proven wrong as pricing the last 12mths is staying pretty good for most last of Falcons in good nic.
I have known of a couple other recent FGX purchase's at low k's and not far off New price.
I also had Insurance renewal last week, Agreed Value is on my purchase price, they wouldn't agree to that unless the research proves otherwise.

So what exactly is wrong with anyone (private or business) buying something that they can see a profit in.Unless you work for a Govt dept you would know that business is all about buying and selling, with the intention of picking up as much profit as possible on the sale.

If I was going to throw 90k at a car, it wouldn't be this.
Don't get me wrong, I like my Falcon, would love to have a turbo or a V8 too, but I'm not the sort of person to keep a car sitting in a garage and never drive it.
I'm also not a fan boy, so for 90k i'd be getting something much newer and much nicer.

Now I get there's fans who may well want to collect one of the last of the V8 Falcons, but wouldn't most of them have purchased one six years ago?

All comes down to what ticks your box's....
Some like collections, some don't, we all have choices.
We all know members here who have Falcons and Euros/Jap etc.
Only 500 XR6 Sprints made and 750 8's.
Seems some want to buy them pre loved, nothing wrong with that, I like having a few sitting in the garage being Queens but don't call me I'm gay

Not worth 90...
Its somewhere in the late 50's imho.

Could buy these cars for $49,990 drive away brand new on runout. No one is going to pay 90k for that when you can buy a Mustang brand new for $68k that does everything better!

Even Sprints are struggling to get more then 70k.

When the FGX XR8s were new I never saw them new that low. Drive away with tint in the $58,00 to $59,000- and allocations sold like hot cakes.

You may be right with the FPV GT Miamis sitting around gathering dust at $76,000 drive away, but Ford enthusiasts know a bargain, and the FGX Xr8 was a reskinned GT Rspec for almost $20K less.

What a car is worth is what someone is prepared to pay. Supply ( limited and ever decreasing) and demand (heritage- won Supercars, last Ford Ausssie v8, probably never made available again, dwindling analog manuals) who knows....?

Honestly, I don't think they mind either way if it sells, from the conversation I had. When I asked him how much he'd sell it for, he said around 55k/60k. Not at all unreasonable.

Again, it's not advertised anywhere and it's tucked wayyyy up the back of the showroom, so I'm not sure they are desperate to sell.

I don't have $90K laying around, but if I did, I'd buy it and use it as my daily. None of this garaging it and heading into the garage just to look at it. I'd be driving it everywhere.
