Default How do I preserve my GXL steering wheel?

I have a GXL steering wheel on my car, but also have a spare in VGC I picked up cheap.
So it's just sitting in an old cupboard in my shed.
Wondering what I can do to preserve it so the rubber doesn't dry out and crack.
I spray heaps of Armoral on it from time to time and massage it in.
But can I coat it in something and then wrap it up in a sealed plastic bag or something?

This isn't mine, just copied a pic, this one looks pretty dirty.

Would silicone spray be any good? I know it limbers up door rubbers prior to fitment. Re-elasticises them n whatnot.
Cheers, Tony

Not sure if I'd be using any silicone type sprays on a steering wheel, they can make things pretty slippery.
When its not in use cover it from UV and if it does become unservicable pop the new one on and do the same. That should last it another 40 odd years.
