137 new cases for Australia (mostly in Victoria) and no deaths so CMR drops to 1.224% and active cases rise to 946 (10.8%). SA records 6 new cases.
3 new cases and no deaths for NZ so CMR is 1.435% and active cases rise to 21. The UK recorded 516 new cases and 2 deaths yesterday so the CMR drops to 15.493%. Just over 45k new cases in the USA yesterday and 254 deaths sees CMR down to 4.507% and active cases down to 52.6% but the raw numbers are rising. Note that the USA is actually minus one day due to time differences. Other notable points: The USA completes 37M and Russia 21M tests; Algeria (441), Dominican Republic (1,241), Philippines (2,424), Mexico (6,914)recorded new daily highs, those in blue for the second consecutive day and those in red for a third or more consecutive day.

I am more interested that he and his cronnies might know more than they are letting on. It is no secret that DT is a germaphobe. Has been all his life, and I remember it was first brought up when he started "The Apprentice". But he is not worried about CV19 one bit. Either he has already had the vaccine or......cue conspiracy theory. |

I've just finished John Bolton's book about his time in the White House. I also have a copy of Michael Wolff's book about the start of the Trump presidency. It;s not just the haters who criticise Trump, many who went into his administration as allies have come out as vocal critics of his poor management skills.
A crisis, such as the current one, will always highlight the weaknesses in a leaders skills. Many are still waiting to hear the details of Trumps health policy in detail, especially how he plans to deal with the next pandemic. Or how to manage the economic recovery from this one. |

My comment was more towards anything prior to Covid. The choices he has made during Covid though has really undermined whatever credibility he had left.

Some Qld politician was talking on the abc radio a few days ago about re evaluating the opening of the Qld/NSW border, he said it would probably depend how NSW handled the 'Victoria lssue'.......
I guess it's been handled.

So I was saving my annual leave at work and now I've got about 5 weeks banked that I can use but can't go anywhere and will probably have forced on me at Christmas so I can sit at home and do nothing
Mexican lockdown sucks. Is Greece still opening its borders to us? Might go to Greece if Sydney won't let me in https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-06-...virus/12323460 Last edited by Franco Cozzo; 06-07-2020 at 01:27 PM. |

A mate was one of a dozen or so of the staff let go from the IT section of a fairly big outfit about a month ago. He got an interview last week and the interviewer apologised for the delay in getting back to him. Apparently they had 1200 applications to sort through.
Maybe it's going to take awhile before things get back to normal. |

Thank god we are still free to criticize the government. Cause it's feeling pretty good to do atm
Going back into lockdown is inevitable I think. Just hope they limit it to melbourne, and not drag all the covid free towns outside the capital with it. This is strictly a Melbourne problem. |

A bitter pill to swallow for us Mexicans again.
Kinda makes the previous stage 3 lockdown pain all a waste as we scramble to keep the numbers down again. People need to understand that we are in a control phase and it needs to be maintained until a vaccine. Easing restrictions seemed to be a license for everyone to go about their normal business with a lessened sense of safety. I just hope all the other states learn to manage their restriction strategy better than we did. I’m off to find toilet paper now.... seems the moron hoard mentality is alive and well again. @)(;:!ck

87 new cases for Australia (mostly in Victoria) and 2 deaths so CMR rises to 1.235% and active cases rise to 1,060 (12.3%). It should be noted that the 6 cases attributed to SA yesterday were actually WA. Victoria is also already at 197 new cases thus far today and has set a new high for active cases with 645, surpassing the 622 recorded back on March 31st. It should be noted before the interstate rivalry starts again that this is still well below the NSW peak of 1,577 back in April and only about half the rate per 100k of population.
1 new cases and no deaths for NZ so CMR is 1.434% and active cases rise to 22. The UK recorded 352 new cases and 16 deaths yesterday so the CMR drops to 15.48%. Just over 54k new cases in the USA yesterday and 283 deaths sees CMR down to 4.434% and active cases down to 52.4% but the raw numbers are rising. Note that the USA is actually minus one day due to time differences. Other notable points: The USA passed 3M cases; Libya (71), Uzbekistan (342), Venezuela (419), Algeria (463), Ghana (992) and Panama (1,185 today, 1,166 yesterday)recorded new daily highs, those in blue for the second consecutive day and those in red for a third or more consecutive day.

We were almost caught by the decision to close the VIC/NSW border earlier than originally planned for those living in the Greater Melbourne area as that closure took effect at midnight last night whereas for the rest of Victoria, the closure takes place from midnight tonight.
We had someone who was planning to travel from Melbourne to Sydney organised to transport something for a friend of theirs today but instead I drove up this morning and met them in Wodonga even though I could have crossed the border being outside the GMA. The 6 hour notice yesterday caused a bit of rapid planning and a little more time would have been nice.

This 'Victorian virus' needs a name. I think I shall call it... COVIC-20.
It'll probably spread Australia wide, and all other states will blame Victoria. When the truth of the matter is, they are probably in a similar situation - but did not test their people as much as Victoria has been doing. Easier to blame someone else. |

Going to very interesting when borders reopen.
Tassie people are basically living as normal now as basically no risk of getting infected. Pubs are packed, no-one is adhering to distancing etc. Would just need a NZ like idiotic border stuff up and the whole thing goes out the window. |

What a cluster****. Even with the border closing and restrictions imposed again there is a good chance that it has already been spreading elsewhere.
Apparently ACT still going ahead with reducing restrictions on Friday. The next 2 weeks or so will be interesting. |
