You're ****ed before you even know it once in the household. Hopefully won't be too bad.

Workmate's wife and son got tested positive over the weekend. The entire family is double vaccinated. Son feels like crap, loss of smell and taste. Wife just feels tired. Funny thing is, workmate himself has tested twice and both came back negative, he himself feels tired and sore throat. They all live in the same household.

When we were on a work call this afternoon, there was a knock on the door. The covid police had come around to check that his son was isolating. So yep....they are still checking!! Didn't ask for the wife though

Employers warned of COVID-related workers' compensation risks when Queensland opens borders

Quote:
Key points:
  • Legal experts say employers may be exposed to workers' compensation claims from staff who contract COVID-19 while at work
  • Queensland has recorded 80 workers' compensation claims related to COVID, of which 25 have been approved
  • Employers may be vulnerable if workers can prove they failed to take reasonable steps to protect them

Interesting article where a figurehead of the company responsible for AZ, suggests its substantial deployment in the UK could be a reason that country has so far avoided a “fourth wave”. I don’t believe it’s peer-reviewed content at this point.

NSW government updates roadmap for easing of restrictions after state reaches 95pc double dose vaccination target

Quote:
The NSW government has updated the roadmap for easing COVID-19 restrictions after the state reaches the 95 per cent double-dose vaccination target or December 15, whichever comes first.

Adjustments to previous settings scheduled for this milestone include:
  • Masks will only be required on public transport and planes, at airports, and for indoors front-of-house hospitality staff who are not fully vaccinated (previously all indoors front-of-house hospitality staff regardless of vaccination status). Masks will be strongly encouraged in settings where you cannot socially distance.
  • No density limits (previously one person per 2sqm).
  • QR check-ins will only be required at high-risk venues including hospitals, aged and disability care facilities, gyms, places of worship, funerals or memorial services, personal services (eg. hairdressers and beauty salons), limited hospitality settings (including pubs, small bars, registered clubs and nightclubs), and for indoor music festivals with more than 1,000 people.
  • Proof of vaccination will no longer be required by Public Health Order for most activities (businesses can still require proof at their own discretion). Proof of vaccination will still be required for indoor music festivals with more than 1,000 people.
  • COVID safety plans will be optional for businesses and will be supported by SafeWork NSW;

In NSW, 94.4 per cent of people aged 16 and over have had one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and 92.1 per cent are fully inoculated.

‘Serious concern’ as South Africa detects new coronavirus variant

Quote:
South African scientists have detected a new COVID-19 variant in small numbers and are working to understand its potential implications.

The variant – called B.1.1.529 – has a “very unusual constellation” of mutations, which are concerning because they could help it evade the body’s immune response and make it more transmissible, scientists told reporters at a news conference on Thursday.

The new variant has a “constellation” of new mutations, said Tulio de Oliveira, who has tracked the spread of the delta variant in the country.

The “very high number of mutations is a concern for predicted immune evasion and transmissibility,” said de Oliveira.

“What gives us some concerns (is) that this variant might have not just have enhanced transmissibility, so spread more efficiently, but might also be able to get around parts of the immune system and the protection we have in our immune system,” he said.

It comes as national campaign spruiking booster shots kicks off today.
A third coronavirus shot is recommended six months after receiving the second, to combat waning immunity.

However infectious disease experts have said healthy people don't need "to rush".

UK To Ban Travel From 6 Nations As South Africa Detects New Covid Variant

Quote:
UK Health Secretary Sajid Javid said all flights would be suspended from South Africa, Namibia, Lesotho, Eswatini, Zimbabwe and Botswana from 1200 GMT Friday.

London: Britain on Thursday said it would ban travel from six southern African countries, after South Africa detected a new Covid-19 variant with a large number of mutations.

"The early indication we have of this variant is it may be more transmissible than the Delta variant and the vaccines that we currently have may be less effective against it," Health Secretary Sajid Javid said.

Javid said the new variant, which South Africa attributed to a surge in cases and had also been detected in travellers from the country in Botswana and Hong Kong, had not been found so far in Britain.

But he said British scientists were "deeply concerned" and as a precaution a decision had been to suspend all flights from South Africa, Namibia, Lesotho, Eswatini, Zimbabwe and Botswana from 1200 GMT on Friday.

Classification of Omicron (B.1.1.529): SARS-CoV-2 Variant of Concern

Quote:
The Technical Advisory Group on SARS-CoV-2 Virus Evolution (TAG-VE) is an independent group of experts that periodically monitors and evaluates the evolution of SARS-CoV-2 and assesses if specific mutations and combinations of mutations alter the behaviour of the virus. The TAG-VE was convened on 26 November 2021 to assess the SARS-CoV-2 variant: B.1.1.529.

The B.1.1.529 variant was first reported to WHO from South Africa on 24 November 2021. The epidemiological situation in South Africa has been characterized by three distinct peaks in reported cases, the latest of which was predominantly the Delta variant. In recent weeks, infections have increased steeply, coinciding with the detection of B.1.1.529 variant. The first known confirmed B.1.1.529 infection was from a specimen collected on 9 November 2021.

A specimen collected from what?
Human?....animal?....reptile?......insect!

Like I said in an earlier post, there seems to be a lot of unusual diseases coming from Africa and parts of Asia, and I do wonder about experiments on monkeys especially, it's happened before and it may still be going on?

It's amazing what a bag of US dollars can do to some NGO's and lesser lights when corruption is rife, WHO can't do anything about it, but they have to find the cause first, all we get is a headline that mentions a new strain or variant of the same virus.

They have 78% of the world's population, so would you expect that they would be represented like that wouldn't you?
