I have no idea if he was happy, but it certainly did not sell at auction for the price that was asked, otherwise it would have sold at auction.

Pretty basic stuff really.

I am guessing the owner realised that his prized vehicle is not worth what he though it would be worth, and accepted what ever offer he got to get out of a fast depreciating asset, before it depreciated even more.

So the owner was smart enough to know when it was time to bail and take his money and run even though he did not get what he originally wanted

They did, telling it how it is is not being gobby as you call it.

Everyone claims they appreciate the truth, but when you tell them the truth you are considered to be an *******.

May be people just need to accept how it is and they won't be offended.

Not a big fan of the pub as I have better things to spend my spare time and my hard earned on than to **** it up against a wall with some drunk yobbos.

Not sure there's any car i'd pay 500k for! Well, if I was a lot richer i'd possibly consider it I suppose.

Is this the one some dude was wanting to sell for 1 million? Turned down a straight swap for $1mil worth of new Porsche.

so it can be assumed that there is no factual information in this part of your post....its just a GUESS?

for the record I don't know what the car sold for, who bought it ,and am not affiliated in any way with shannons auctions or their processes when cars they don't sell are negotiated for after the official auction has ended

It's much safer to "tell it like it is" in your living room on a computer behind an alias than it is at the local.

Yet another interesting matter of fact outsiders perspective on the rapidly crashing GTHO market.................if that toots your horn, and keeps you all warm and fuzzy, I'm a happy man.

Them are the facts and that is what happened, does not make me feel anything, as I have no vested interest in any of it.

If you have alternative knowledge may be let us know.

It's unlikely the owner got more than what the starting bid of the auction was, so I am guessing he accepted a lower offer.

And your point is??

Don't you have to go pay rent or something??

I would guess for less than the starting bid, as it's unlikely someone would put in a higher offer as they wanted to pay more.

Whatever it sold for would still be a substantial amount I would say and probably more than I would be willing to spend. If the owner sold earlier he could have probably got a lot more, but you never know at the time I guess.

I own my cars as I like the cars, could not really care less how much they are worth, I wish they were worth 10% of what they are going for these days, then I could buy more...

Can't help but feel this is relevant, not 100% but maybe 80% true in some instances here.

I once read there are more phase threes in existence today than were build back in the 70's, that is considering all the ones that were crashed and parted out over the decades.

So may be they can produce offspring

The reference is more aimed at the fact that every time you fill up at the servo in a GT you meet a guy that owned a GTHO.

Kind of hard / impossible to build a new GTHO without an vin / ID plate etc.

Not to mention raised suspicion when suddenly a car that has never been seen before with no history or explanation for its sudden reappearance hits the market.
