So they've done sweet f.a. The updated Ranger should (continue to) eat it for breakfast. Particularly if it receives some Everest goodies

But what he didn't tell you was how awful it was to live with day to day, yes I have experienced them and lets say, they are average at best. As for mods, there are several highly modified ($25K mods) Prados for sale on pradopoint that can't get any more money second had stock one, so even if you are correct, its money down the drain unless you keep the car for 20 years. Again, totally irrelevant point, but interesting none the less. (I know a guy who spend $10k on a GQ patrol and $10K on mods, and can go anywhere in the country, could by three jeeps for that) You get my point... |

Windows work with remote Windows work with car off for a while Press starter button off before shifting to P and the radio stays on, if off press starter once for radio (I don't do this though) Handling is fine, but thats relative depends on what you care it to but it flies and feels great compared to the Patrol, but compared to everest and ranger? Don't know but I bet they about the same. 4WD is a 4WD. |

And the V6 Prado kills the Ranger, but again irrelevant, they both work bloody well to do the job at hand. I felt the ranger was sluggish for what it was, but the 200 series twin turbo V8 is much the same, grunty but sluggish.

Would have to drop down to their standards though, I'd look at the upcoming Fortuner for that bracket, size would be comparable too, and they would all be ute based too like the ranger. in fact that is what the Everest competes with, ute based 4WDs not dedicated wagon 4WD platforms.

Agreed, along with Amarak (if a bigger engine comes out), a 200Series (or update) or if the Prado gets a bigger donk on the 180 series or whatever its called. Keep my eye on the Fords, but still worry about the reliability.

When the Ranger gained the 150kg tow increase, it lost 100KG payload because the GCM only went up 50kg. Sneaky marketing there folks. The full sized 4WDs like the 200 or Disco 4 onwards are one of the few who can have nearly full GVM and GCM together, in fact the D4 is the only one who can max out both. It has a 900kg payload in a wagon! Impressive stuff, and it tows that load like there nothing there, both handling and pulling power. |

Comparing it to non existent vehicles and a 200 which is in another price bracket all together. ($97, 096.21 for a Diesel GXL)

My bet is Toyota will need to sharpen the pencil on their price as the 150 series will be around for a few more years yet.

V6 Petrol would need the 150L tank because of how much fuel it uses over the diesel. If you think the Ranger and LC a sluggish, then I guess the diesel Prado feels the same? Quote:
Prados at work have had hinge problems on the back door after only a few years old. My Brothers older model Seirra has also had rear hinge problems, but after a much longer time. Seams like having the spare on the door is not good for the hinges. Most 100 and 200 series owners who do a lot of offroad either carry a spare on the rear door or roof I have noticed. I guess something similar will be made for the Everest for hardcore offroaders. Quote:

FYI Prado runs duel tanks total 180L capacity, I would say that's main reason for the wheel on the back so the second tank sits at the rear.
note aside UK Prado sold simply as Land cruiser has the spare underneath so I assume has a single Tank... Whilst I think the spare looks good on the back of a 4WD it would be impossible for my wife to get down, hard enough for me, so underneath would be more practical for day to day use. Saying that spares never get used, so I wouldn't let it affect my Purchase

180L in the older models (2003ish- 2009ish)
150L in newer ones. But like you said spares rarely get used, unless you are into pretty hardcore offroading. Most those guys carry 2 spare anyway especially when doing long distance. I wouldn't base a purchase on where the spare is kept. |

Now with an 87lt fuel capacity, thanks to the spare now being under the floor.

Toyota Australia have released it here recently as a Limited Edition to gauge customer demand for such a layout.

Hate to say it, But I think its just a Extended Ranger like the Colarado 7. With ute handling and Dynamics at a crazy price. Don't expect it to be anywhere near as good as a Territory.

granted it is still body on frame, but it does have coil rear springs and a shorter wheelbase. the same You Yangs team that developed the Territory ride and handling also developed the Everest if that gives you confidence

I hope so Simon. Or it will ended up selling as well as the Colorado 7 and Isuzu MDX. Holden started discounting the 7 only a few months on the market. Its been out for about a year now I have only every seen 4 of them.
If Ford think the Territory is a slow seller I think they better watch out with the Everest..... Time will tell. |

It won't ride like a territory but it's not meant to, it's built to do a bit more off-roading. There will be some other car to fill the suv gap.
