If you're hesitant to get it, that's fine, it's your choice. Though, I would recommend that if it comes down to a situation where you feel you're forced to take it at the cost of your job, that you talk to your doctor about the potential risks rather than walling yourself into an internet echo chamber.
Funny that no one gives any consideration for long term effects, drug trials stretch out for years to cover for all eventualities, these were pushed through with minimal human testing time wise, and probably on a select group of people of the drug companies choosing. Not anti vaccines at all, just wary to why this is being pushed on us in such a hurry with ever changing goal posts and with endorsements from self serving Politicians, that alone should be warning enough. Hate to think in years to come we are left with another generation like the flipper kids.

They have learnt a lot since the 1950's. What was the alternate plan, everyone stay at home for 5 years? Or let it run and probably lose 12% of the global population of over 75's (30 million dead)? Or vaccinate as quickly as they can, after testing vaccines with global resources like never before. You have to choose 1 of the 3.

In my opinion we nearly nailed it......Excepting Vics shambolic, amnesia riddled early mismanagement and the Feds screwing up by running the "its not a race line". It was always a race. The Feds business and personal support packages and the speed they introduced it is now forgotten, but it was better or at least as good as anywhere.

Even accepting our toll mainly from Victoria, if we were now sitting at 50% plus fully vaxxed, I would have called it the best response in the world.

so a 'vaccine' that doesnt prevent you from getting covid, just lessen the affect is a way of being covid free?

how does that work??? We all just walk around having contracted thinking we are safe because we had jab? That doesnt stop a pandemic... it just masks it.

If the vaccine 'stopped' you getting it... that's a whole lot of reason to get it and I suspect would be a 100% uptake by the public.....

No it is not.

This is my opinion on the subject in regards to Vaccines.
I believe the the 2 Vaccines currently available were rushed to the market in a race to be 1st. 1st equals the biggest profits.
The technology in them is not fully proven and no one knows the long term effects. They do not even accurately know how long they will protect you for.
When people you know start telling you incidents you start to take notice.

We have all received multiple vaccinations in the past so it is no big deal, I am not anti-vax.

From what I can work out, I will be waiting for the Novavax Vaccine to be approved later in the year, as it based on traditional technology that has been used in vaccines for the last 20+ years.
But even with that one, I can see people both for and against it for various reasons.

It is a bit like selecting your poison of choice.

Basically same as Flu jab...
Your not going to stop the pandemic. Just the results are better, for both those that are vaccinated, and everyone else.

Incoming curve ball....

The virus is called the "severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2" (SARS-CoV-2).

The disease it causes is "coronavirus disease" (COVID-19).

Vaccine helps train your body to fight the virus so it doesn't turn into the disease. Vaccine doesn't stop you from getting the virus.

I'm really not in the mood for going over these same points again (this covid thing has gone on long enough as it is, and I'm sure we're all over it by now) but please stop spreading misinformation. No testing was 'rushed', they went through exactly the same testing regime as any vaccine would, the difference was that roadblocks were removed due to the urgency of the pandemic.

tl;dr, the vaccines skipped to the front of the queue instead of waiting in line. The testing itself was unchanged...

The reason why it usually takes years for a vaccine to come out isn't because the testing takes years, it's because there are hundreds of private companies all waiting in line to be tested.

All of the test results from each phase of testing is available online with a simple google search, this is all stuff you can verify yourself if you choose to rather than regurgitating what you read on Facebook.

Taking that into account, I know of no one that has had Covid but know of 2 instances of people having reactions to vaccines. 1 Hospital, 1 passing out and requiring paramedics.

I am interested in your ratios as to how many people you know who have actually had covid, versus how many you know who have had bad reactions to being vaccinated.
Covid - 2
Vax reaction - 0

The 2 covids were in the 2nd wave last year. One is still having fatigue issues. The other required both a liver & kidney transplant, and 12 months on is only able to work 3 days a week.

Very well put...but not what a lot of people want to want to hear.

Someone will chime in about how likely a lightning bolt is or some other misguided analogy they heard on the oestrogen overloaded TV channel that has no adds.

Alternate facts as a justification works very well if aid often enough.

Don't have Facebook, never have, I'll just run along now and tell my wife (that is on a world wide drug trial, one of two left participating in it in left New Zealand, that it's allgood, no need to have full day in hospital every three months getting full barrage of tests, bloods scans xrays ecgs etc then filling out 10 page questionnaire then two hour interview with NZs top specialists, plus her trial has just been extended from 3 to 5 years.) Not to bother all is safe. Picking from your references to "Google " that is main source of info you regurgitate and parrot.
One thing I have noticed is the moment you question any thing Covid you get lumped into something equivalent to a holocaust denier or rasist much like how the climate agenda people do to shut people down when you pull them up on there crusade.

Its not that simple and all too easy for people who dont leave the country and own pitch forks to sit and critique.

I dont know why people are getting so uptight about the jab...take it if you want, its not sold as an antidote so lets not spin it that way.

There currently is no other meaningful path, we can not keep the country closed indefinitely, so to give yourself and others the best chance of not becoming seriously ill then what other choice is there?

How about after everyone has had the chance to be jabbed that if you contract and you decided not to vac you can flip the bill and be liable for other damages?

The vaccines have been developed quickly, but we also have the technology to do it quicker than prior pandemics and while I harbor some reservations I am still yet to see a better idea.

We have a long history of vaccinations, we know it works in theory, we have billions of people around the world administered so while we do run a risk of long term unknown effects again what are the options?

Both side of the arguments have valid points, just pick your lesser evil and remember that a government needs to administer policy for all, not select groups so the "ill be right" mantra is not good enough in this case.

Thanks you so much for your non patronising expert advice.

I'm kinda looking at those that can not wait to start flying out from our great country are the ones who are selfish.
Not the ones who are standing back and questioning the logic and speed of mass vaccination.

You could certainly let your wife now that you've been made aware that there are multiple test phases for multiple scenarios for multiple brands going on all over the world, and that it should be obvious that of course they're still going on. For example, Pfizer's Phase III testing isn't actually scheduled to finish until 2022.

And yes, you could also tell her that you found out that Google is a very powerful tool in finding unbiased, objective facts on just about any of these clinical trials, and indeed find that they were not rushed after all. If you so choose, of course. You're welcome to continue believing what you want from wherever you found it, it's no bother to me.

And yes, if you're saying things like "I'm not an anti-vaxxer, I just believe that the vaccine has been rushed for political gain", then yea, you're probably going to lumped in with the rest of them.

Anytime, selfish for wanting to see their family overseas or conduct their own business? I agree there are limits but we are now how long down the track wit this?

Just because some have a life that is completely domestic doesn't meant that we all have the same requirements. (keep in mind the % of immigration within Australia's history). Its not 1700, you cant close your country off to the rest of the world indefinitely. But the current situation suits your lifestyle, fine, and everyone else?

What would you propose? What would you do if you have dying family OS, you had the ability to see them and are happy to quarantine but your country doesn't let you?

There are some civil rights here, that being the right to return to your country that Australia is currently playing with.

https://www.ag.gov.au/rights-and-pro...eedom-movement

All because we couldn't get our act together. We did the ease and correct thing at the start and havent seemed to make much progress with processes nor vaccination...thats where the angst should be.

My wife and I have had both Pfizer injections. Other than slight tenderness at the injection site we have had no side effects for either injection.

In case anyone thought is a good idea. Might explain why there is a bit of hunger games going on in some of the inner elites. Rumour going around two more schools have been named...

Indonesia grapples with high COVID rates among children as health experts urge people to protect their kids
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-07-...dren/100272142

Quote:
According to the official data up to June 2021, the total number of children in Indonesia who have been infected was around 250,000 — or 12.6 per cent of the total cases.

Throughout the pandemic, 676 children have died from COVID-19 — about 1.2 per cent of total deaths.

Alarmingly, 50 per cent of the children who died were under five years old.

I’ll preface this by saying, in no way are my following comments directed at you mate! I DO understand where you’re coming from.

They are directed at the typical “I’m ok Jack, feck you” attitude that exists and has massively escalated since this pandemic began.
They are directed at those warm and comfy unadventurous souls, that live their typically boring mundane lives, venturing no further than, maybe the Gold Coast for their annual hols… These same souls, typing madly away on social media espousing their wrath against “these poor citizens”
AUSTRALIAN citizens, who have the sheer audacity to EXPECT to be able to return to THEIR HOME country!…
“Oh, you were warned”, “you should have upped tents & camels and been back 18 months ago”,.. “Bad luck buddy, ya missed the bus”, “It’s all on you d…head, for not listening to the God almighty Politicians that manage Australia”
The very same Australia that I was born in, (as were at least 3 generations of my ancestors) The same Australia I paid 50+ years of taxes to, The same Australia that issued the Passport I carry.
That SAME passport that not too long ago, allowed me unlimited free exit and entry…
So now, I’m WHAT? An undesirable?, An unwanted Australian? (Because I’m still overseas) A refugee? (To be housed in their previous accommodation anyhow)
Test me for Covid sure!, but at the end of the day, NO Australian government has THE RIGHT to blatantly turn their back on their own citizens!
War, catastrophe, pandemic… I don’t care!
It is MY bloody right to be able to freely travel to the country on the front of my passport!!
Have a REAL hard think about this!
Australian citizens basic human rights have been thrown out the door, and Australians are clapping their hands!! (Thanks to MSM, and inept leaders)
It’s a damn disgrace!!

For the record… I am NOT trying to get back!… My issue is it is MY RIGHT to be allowed if I desire!!
