Everyone to their own I suppose, I found the Ranger an exceptionally excellent vehicle after owning an FG XR6 ute, did like the FG but the Ranger is more versatile for my needs, no regrets..

PS: Ranger easily craps on the competition.

If not, I'll take my Ranger dual cab.

Vito is a piece of junk. Seen the repair bills for ridiculous things that go wrong at the offices of my clients. Failed ABS modules, collapsed window regulators: windows that mysteriously open themselves overnight, intermittent warning lamps, failed central locking, speedometer always reading zero. And the prices are enough to make one fall backwards in shock. $6,000 repair bills are commonplace. Apparently they aren't even made in Germany.

Where else do you put your surfboards, mine are always on the roof rack regardless of the type of vehicle. Gone are the days of wagons with wind down rear windows and the board sticking out the back.

I was wondering that myself...and trying to remember the last time a "passenger car-based wagon" was made in Australia that had wind-down rear windows (because a board won't fit in a Commodore or Falcon wagon either). Would it be way back with the XC for Falcon and the Kingswood for Holden...? I can't think of any others later than them...

Im not tall by any means or a beachball fatty, but I am heavy built(107kg at 179cm)... two blokes my size would just barely fit in the back there's no way you would get a 3rd person in there and the front seat must be put well forward for me to fit.
I easily fit in the rear a proper sized family sedan... without the seat forwards in fact Im more comfy in the back than the front of my "family car" FG.

I will agree with others as a proper ute 4x4 dual cabs(ie for carrying a load)they are crap... cant fit SFA in them without towing a trailer and the load center height makes them unstable compared to a real ute(ie tray back 2x4).

More room then the backseat of a modern falcon sedan.

Are they? We've owned a LWB 122CDI for the last couple of years and 65k km and it has been faultless. It's been all over the country in all kinds of conditions and not missed a beat. It's one of the Spanish built 3.0 V6 Turbo diesels and it replaced a petrol SZ Territory. Develops almost as much power (165 kW), has more torque (440 Nm) and weighs a little more (2195 Kg) set up for our purpose as a Hundewagen.

It's slightly quicker 0-100 and over the quarter and has returned 8.6 l/100 km.

It wasn't cheap (similar to a Territory Titanium) but we love it and it's a keeper.

I never made any reference to reliability, but when riding in Joes (my subbie ) Vito it was not agricultural, I get that when they get a bit long in the tooth they cost a bomb (in the 18 months before my mum sold her Mexican built made to order ml320 01 edition that took 6 month to get because the Olds didn't want leather or a sunroof for 3500) that thing cost 21000 to keep going, and guess what, she bought a 91kw b200. Ok, repairs aren't cheap, but for a van, they are quiet, don't nail you back over bumps and have things called seats. I refuse to go for a ride in the b200 because my 7 year old son is to big to fit in the compact rear seat. Its not the "wagon" mum thought she bought, it's a 50 something thousand dollar waste of petrol. I would love if my firm traded me up from the single cab ranger to an extra cab. slight consession on the tray, but extra seats. I sit in the front so it doesn't matter to me

One of our contractor owns a V6 Vito - it is a proper hotrod , i wanted one even though i don't need a van. I think they one come in LWB , SWB would of been even quicker.

They did come in SWB as well until they dropped the V6 with the 2015 model refresh. Now the 119CDI is the best performing thing in the range which is a twin turbo 2.1L 4 cylinder with 140 kW / 440 Nm.

Mind you, in the good old USofA you can get a bloody Transit with either:

• a 3.7L Ti-VCT V6 petrol engine with 208 kW and 350 Nm; or
• a 3.5L EcoBoost® V6 petrol engine with 230 kW and 540 Nm; or
• a direct-injected 3.2L I-5 Power Stroke® Turbo Diesel with 140 kW and 440 Nm.

.. of course we only get the mighty 2.2 TDi with its electrifying 114 kW / 385 Nm.
