When your man tackle is cut and bleeding after a decent cycle. You too will convert to Lycra. On topic though. Good job on the cyclists generating so much revenue. To be spent on improvements to infrastructure.

I spoke to a couple of push bike cops when we were on site maintaining one of the cycleways, they were saying there are alot of rules that they can apply but at the end of the day they're on knobbly tyre MTB's carrying all related gear so alot of road bikes will just ride off with no fear of being caught...
In relation to bleeding man parts and bums, I used to get this on my ride, but just sucked it up and grew some new callus's...

All this arguement about wearing or not wearing lycra because the saddle burns the pink bits. Just buy a decent seat, wear more normal clothing and no one can be mistaken for a poser.

Exercise done, coffee drunk, pink bits stay pink not bright red. Everyone happy. Logical!

How many hours in the saddle is necessary to cease being a poser!
Is owning a V8 falcon but not racing it also classified as posing?

Or....

Just ignore what other people might think of you. Easy. If a motorist sees me out and thinks I'm a poser, it won't make me lose any sleep at night.

Golf and cycling yeah they are closely related w4nker

I dont even do it for the fitness, i do it for the enjoyment. Fitness is a by product.

Love a good cyclist bashing thread, makes my day really.
Golf & Cyclists-bright clothes.Obvious connection. Whats with the personal attack? I was pro athlete for 15 years, many triathalons so I have plenty of experience with bikes. The best exercise for losing weight & toning front/back is fast walking, taking decent steps. Many people still need to spend a lot of money on shoes & clothes or bikes etc, and thats ok if you need that. I am on the road quite a lot throughout the day & apart from the handful of 'fast, courteous' riders who are generally alone or in a pair, the rest should probably stay off major roads in peak traffic. Groups of riders with various fitness levels riding to work/major rds/peak hour. Recipe for disaster in Sydney at least. When I used to ride my Ducati, a bunch of us would meet at a cafe in StKilda on the Beach Rd weekends. I live in Sydney now and there's still lots of bikes at cafes, but they don't have motors in em!

minute for minute, providing you are making your heart work at a similar level, cycling is better at burning calories than walking.

at the end of the day, its about putting out more than you put in. from a financial stand point obviously walking is much cheaper.

Try to walk around the block with intent. See what state your in when you get home. Cycle the same route, now tell me which had more impact on heart rate & muscle use? This isn't a ****ing contest, its a fact.

Fortunately wearing cycling attire is not yet cause for being fined. Nor is riding according to the current rules, exercising, riding for fun or to commute is also compliant with the road rules, if your offended by the human form, whatever shape it is perhaps rather than abuse others you take a long look in the mirror, live and let live or our society will fall apart.

Same could be said of many outfits people choose to wear doing almost anything, anywhere.

He said heart rate and muscle use budd. swimming is good as well. exercise is more about gaining body and muscle tone getting all hung up on weight loss is not all of it

I'm with you there mate!! Mind you theres a few that should cover it up so they don't scare the kids. Is there any reason why blokes can't wear a longer shirt to cover up there dates and tackle on a bike?

You might want to get a bike shop to see about a better saddle. My TREK came with a saddle that was too narrow - tried another, too narrow again so I bought a good Brooks leather saddle which was wider at the saddle section that the butt bones sit on. My ar$e thanked me, it is actually quite a comfortable ride now and a great experience in contrast to a butt raping by the Bontrager saddle

Still dont see the correlation with the 2, but anyway ill let you have it.
Did you not see my comment about doing it for the enjoyment? I dont ride road bikes they bore me to tears, but i can appreciate why people do it. I prefer the adrenaline that enduro mtb provides. Yeah maybe walking is better for me, i do enough of that at work. But im sure as hell not going to go for a walk to keep fit thats for sure.

Physios put me on to bikes as a way to rebuild muscle when I broke my leg.
Bikes are great when you can't weight bear.

My surgeon wasn't happy, he said I'd take a 6 pack (beer) with me and fall off.
