We looked into the 2.9% deal right at the end of Jan (circumstances meant we'd only just found out we needed to buy a second car, and had earmarked a territory). However as what we wanted wasn't in stock in WA it wouldn't be delivered by the 31st (one of the conditions of the deal).
At that time they quoted us a rate of 7.8% if we wanted to sign up anyway and take delivery in Feb.

Cue Feb 1st and I checked the Ford website first thing to find the 2.9% deal was extended. Hence we signed up.
For anyone interested we were charged $1100 in fees for the loan - I was told this was $350 for the loan provider (Macquarie I think) and $750 went to the dealership. But I believe this was factored in to the calculation of the 2.9%.
On the 35K we borrowed, if we take the full 4 yrs to repay we will pay around $1800 interest.

That is correct. The actual rate that we were quoted was 2.02%. the 2.9% is the comparison rate, which includes establishment fees and monthly fee.

Aha - they never told me the actual rate. A pleasant surprise as I was expecting around $2100 total in interest plus the $1100 fees! Don't intend on taking the four years to repay though.
Now just got to wait for it to arrive - hopefully in two weeks and hopefully before baby (due in 3 weeks!).

Mrs P check your loan terms.
Early repayment attracts large penalty costs.
(we took out same 2.9% loan)

Kevino I was told there's a $750 charge for early termination, pro rata (so would be $375 if we finish after two years). But she also mentioned there was another type of fee involved but I didn't get all the details on it. I figured that if we were at a point where we were ready to pay it out, we could find out what the fees would be at that time and compare to the interest we would pay if we just continued for the full four years. And then do whatever was cheaper!

For us it was such a good deal, that came right at the time we needed a car, that even if we did pay the full interest amount and keep the loan for the four years, it's a bargain

What did you buy in the sale?

For the first time ever, we are planning to see the loan go the full term - for us to be paying it off sooner would mean that we are using more money from our Mortgage offset... 5.8>2.9, so its a no brainer.

Also, just a word of warning - Mcquarie leasing (who the finance company actually is) appear to charge for you to fart in their presence. I called them to see if I could move my payment date (sooner of all things)....that will be $20 thanks. So, you can guess, the payment date has stayed where it was.

Mrs P we traded our 135000kms 2006 Focus CL manual sedan in on a 5/12 build Fiesta Sedan 1.6 auto. One of the last Fiesta sedans skulking around. We have taken a gamble on the dual clutch auto. However its fine so far, different to a normal torque converter auto but coming out of manuals we understand the way it works as it is a robotised manual. My wife drived thsi car, I drive an 08 TDCI 6 speed Focus, but am most impressed by this Fiesta, had 5 adults in it today and it performed nicely.

Only on Focus and Fiesta. They really do not want to sell locally made cars do they.

They are doing the FoF deal at present with the locally made cars.

Be better if they did 2.9% finance on them though as that garners more attention. Might find the FoF deal ends at the end of April and the 2.9% starts on the locally made Falcon and Territory.

So what would they rather, people buying cars at closer to RRP or people buying cars with 20% or so discount.

Not to mention units going through local plants, they seem to be trying pretty hard!

The month has gone bananas with Focus and Fiesta again and 2.9% is really helping.

2.9% across the range would be good as an EOFY offer for June!
