Nice work mate, you'll love this beast!

And options on the XR8, didn't know it had any. Looking at the specs, the perimeter alarm is on the G6E but is not an option on the other models, as are the rear view mirror dip.

I ticked the box for the alarm, carpets, rubber boot insert & pollen filer, plus the full delivery options (paint protection, window tint, interior etc... (not the stupid electronic rust thing though)

Went into my dealer and he brought it up on his Ford portal. Shows his cars on order etc.

Ordered mine in November the dealer gives me an update each month on where it is upto. Mine build date is confirmed for July.

Taking one for a test drive tomorrow. The dealer is very protective of it, with a set circuit to drive on with a salesperson on board, which I don't mind but it is a bit of a bummer nonetheless (though to be fair, the dealer would be totally amenable to a change of circuit if I suggested one).

I've recently taken a 300 SRT8 and a VF SSV wagon for a spin, so this just about completes the drives of all vehicles on my wishlist.

We have a set circuit with salesman on board for every test drive in every car.... Never had a complaint.
Count yourself super lucky to get a test drive!!!

Sweet test driving all the hot cars .so let everybody on the forum know what you are thinking of purchasing .i did not test drive the falcon xr8 first just ordered it .blown 5.0 stock standard yipiya .its home now love the fgx .

Ordered mine sight unseen too, had driven a few FG's and loved them, plus the feedback on the GT was great on AFF, so it was a no-brainer for me. Loving every second of driving that car, it has made driving fun again.

I ordered my new XR8 sight unseen and with no test drive. Talk about taking a leap of faith. It was the same with my colour choice. I was totally in the dark because the only colour I liked other than white (except if breeze was on offer) was smoke. But who in their right mind does this...someone like me and clearly some others who simply did not want under any circumstances to miss out owning the last made Aussie built Ford Falcon.

So the upshot of this long winded story is I simply just took a leap of faith that the car would meet or exceed my expectations. So the good news is my car in terms of power and my choice of colour is everything I wanted in a performance car.

In summary my car is a keeper and I won't be parted with it for any price. I now own a piece of Aussie built Ford history. I wish it was otherwise because this is some car and what a story it may have been to see what the underlying architecture of the FGX platform could have been developed into in regards to its future design and style.

I am very envious of all you guys that have ordered/bought a new XR8. Wish I could afford one to have one to replace my AUII XR8 which I had to sell late last year due to family duties but I tell you what, having to wait 9 months for a falcon.....Bloody hell. That's a long wait! That'd be torture for me. Hats off to you. I wouldn't wait that long.

I had to wait 5 months, no test drive, leap of faith. But I did get to see them up close and personal at the Falcon Fanatics day, so I was pretty impressed already!

Look fwd to your comparisons tomorrow compared the these. I like the srt, but the inside is very cheap and hard plastics, but love the exterior. Ssv I like but way to quiet for a v8

Well tonight had a brief affair with an SRT 8 300.

Result: FGX XR8 manual >SRT8 300.

SRT8 300 driver not very happy,.......

The more I drive this car the more I love it. For the first week odd I was a bit overwhelmed to be honest and was struggling with rear end on corners, but just starting to find its sweet handling spot, and its sweet.

If you dont like the plastics in the srt.. add the leather pack on the SRT model (not avaliable on core thou) and you will be surprised as it will bring it up to my luxury model standards (finish/quality wise) where the whole dash, top half of doors and sides of the transmission is real sitched nappa leather. Fully loaded SRT is in a price bracket above the XR8 thou. 65k-75k driveaway these days. XR8 at 55k is a beast for the price!! Bang for your buck champ for sure!

I didnt like the cheap plastic interior of the 300 till i saw my luxury with the leather everywhere. (Mine has real mocha wood inserts as well - fully loaded SRT gets real carbon fibre)
