They went all Grandma on everyones asses after the mid 2000s. There was nothing exciting in their range, the only decent car is the latest Accord Euro, they're not bad to drive in manual form.

S2000 is a pretty good car, but we found at the dealership that if you drove them like Honda intended, by 100,000km they would leak oil and blow head gaskets, plus a fuel filter on those was a massive bastard of a job.

They had nothing under 6000 RPM either, below that a Corolla would blow you away off the line, had to always keep it between 6000-9000 RPM to get it to move real quick, its more of a drivers car.

If you wanted top end power like that, rotary engines do it better anywyas.

The point is Honda flat out refuse to fit turbos to anything, unlike Ford who sell factory race parts and sell factory Mustangs with superchargers.

Ford also sell factory drag cars.

So anyone can just pop down to their local Honda dealer and buy a Honda with a turbo engine. I guess not.

Of course they don't, but everyone is going that way and Honda simply refuse to follow. They will just continue being left behind with cars the are slow and use more fuel than the competition, just because they are stubbornly sticking to the no turbos thinking.

And it has now resulted in the Civic Type R being killed off from all reports, because with turbo charged competition now making 180kw and upwards no torqueless VTEC lump is going to get close to touching them. Have they admitted defeat.

If your in America maybe, I'm not sure if the rdx is a current model. That engine bay pic is from a 2007.

Both the city Turbo and legend turbo were mainstream models when new.

So yes readily available in showrooms when new.

Oh wait? Did you mean Aussie showrooms?

Then I guess they're just as available as your mustang example.

Can't see how posting pics of cars from 20-30 years ago is relevant to Honda now?

At least factory Mustangs have been sold here.

Not to mention that you can also buy a factory Ford turbo with 533 Nm, right here in Australia, for a relatively cheap price. Not enough for you? Go for the F6, GS or GT. Need something a bit smaller? Take a look at the runout XR5T, or wait for the new Focus and Fiesta ST.

And yes, you're right, cars don't need turbos at all. What they do need is low down torque. Yup, not just the performance versions, but the regular passenger versions as well. The Fiesta, Focus and Mondeo are all available with torquey diesels, and the petrol equivalents are also far from high revving undrivable screamers. The Fiesta petrol offers plenty of low down torque for the car's light weight, and revs to a reasonable 6000 rpm. The Mondeo Ecoboost? A billiard table flat torque curve from 1750 rpm. Let's not even mention the Falcon's 'standard' engines (Ecoboost, EcoLPI, and the venerable I6).

What does Honda offer in response? Nothing!

Everyone seems to be comparing oranges to apples here... The majority of Honda's aren't targeted at high performance enthusiasts, if any of you have driven a late model Honda you would know that their little 4 cylinder engines are actually quiet punchy, the interior is excellent quality and the ride is very comfortable

I think its time for this thread to be closed, it's not going to go anywhere, just a bunch of back and forward arguments stating the same points over and over

Accord Euro is probably the only car there worth buying, its the only Honda we get that is still built in Japan, interior quality in that thing is tops and that engine mated to the sweet shifting 6sp manual is really nice to drive.

I'd own one.

I would kill for one of those Honda City Turbos for a fun car...people who laugh have never driven one. They were just about as close to a high performance go-kart with a roof that you could get...the damn things just flew, as they weighed nothing.
Shame there just aren't any of them around much anymore.

Iirc they even had forged internals stock, but amazingly fun wee cars to drive, I had a couple of mates back home that were nuts about them.
But I'd hate to crash one, theyres nothing to them.
