Couldn't have said it better myself!!!!

I can't for the life of me understand how he ever got in and stayed in for as long as he did. I'm just spewing his demise wasn't a humiliating drubbing at the ballot box because then I could say I had a hand in him going.

Doubly good news that Thwaites has followed him out the door!!

A GREAT DAY FOR VICTORIA!!!

The problem was too many people actually voted for him but for the wrong reasons...

This issue is not about Bracks and who he is and what he has done. This is about misleading the Victorian public that they were voting for the leader of a political party who has pulled the plug not even a year into his term.

And for his second in charge, one time potential 'Leader' to also resign, somethings not right here.

Very true, i think he'll be most remembered for sailing alone nicely on the back of initiatives and infrastructure projects created by the Govt he replaced...

And that previous Government left a fortune in surplass's which is probably gone long by now hence the national record we pay in stamp duties, fines and tax's. Well Brumby was the one in charge of it and now hes leading the state unellected :( 3 Years of a premier no one voted in as premier

I have never been done by a speed camera, but it's the principle why I hate the things. For someone to get a fine of a few hundred dollars for doing 103 in a 100 zone is very rough, particularly with car speedometers having a 10% margin of error. The speed cameras have also been found to have inaccuracies, the biggest example of this being a woman who proved her Datsun couldn't go anywhere near the speed she was supposedly caught doing. They aren't reliable at all, and it's all about revenue.

I can't say I'm going to miss Bracks. When he was voted in over Kennett, I thought it would be good for the state because Kennett wasn't great either. According to Kennett, the state of Victoria ended at the Melbourne suburbs. While new buildings were popping up all over Melbourne, the country was missing out completely. Coming from the country, I know this first hand. Roads were constantly getting patched up, but were rarely resurfaced. There were patchup jobs on top of patchup jobs. While Bracks has been a little bit better for the country, he still didn't do enough for it. The fact is, I'd like to see the day when a politician comes into power with the general public's welfare being his number 1 priority. As it is now, the number 1 priority is greed.

Tell that to the driver of a Datsun 120Y, a bus driver and a truck driver who all got fined for impossible speeds. Now they are the obvious ones, what about all the others that aren't so obviously inaccurate?

In my John McEnroe voice, “you can’t be serious”?

When your kids are 50 years old and paying to use Eastlink, remind them of who you voted for.

Lets all take a look at some of Super Steve’s achievements in government.

Mitcham Frankston freeway “cough cough” Tollway.

The regional fast rail project that was originally only going to cost around 80 Million. Last count was at around 750 million. And it isn’t even fast.

Let’s not forget Land Tax.

You don't get a fine for driving at 103 in a 100 zone, you have a detected speed which is above the Police set threshold to which they then deduct the set threshhold to arrive at your alleged speed which might then come down to 103. So in actual fact you need to be travelling closer to 110 in a 100 zone. The alleged speed, after all deductions is the speed you would then have to defend in court or settle the fine over.

You suited up yet?

Who wants a saint, I want a hard a$$ that will bust his balls and those who stand in his way.

Kennett FTW.

Something very odd about it all. I heard Brack's cited "family reasons".

I didn't say he was perfect but then I mean who put the tollway on the Monash from after Toorak Rd onwards? Wasn't that road already there? As far as I am aware the Eastlink project is a whole new roadway which I probably won't ever use.

Yes land tax and stamp duty, etc, shocking and just full of greed. So is the GST. I mean we could go on forever criticising all of them but what is it going to achieve? As i said I didn't mind Bracks. I guess I considered him the lesser of two evils and I guess I obeyed the speed limits ;)

Fair bit of tit for tat here, not all policies are going to suite everyone this is why we vote for the side we want..
who gave us the tolls 1st and tolled a existing road being the Tulla free way, who was the 1st to come to power and put on a $100 house tax...

Brack's Elected democratically how many times?..... kicked out the cocky politician (JK) who thought he was safer than the city bank volt..
well done to Steve Bracks done a good job and made it a fairer state to live in....
At least he knew the time was right, some of others on both sides of politics should take the same lead, Federal and State.
Victoria now lacks politicians who like they can be a leader..

Nope they dont suit everyone and thats why it makes for good banter! (and isnt always a good thing on forums!)

The tolls were discussed during an election and JK was elected knowing they were to be tolled. Scoresby F'way went to the polls with Brax stating it will be a freeway ....... thats the difference. $100 household fee was for two years and wasnt very nice and peed quite a few off but was a result from the Kirner years debacle.

Ok easy, How does a bank deposit $500,000 into a sole parent pensioner of 3 children's account? Mistakes happen and always will..

Roads i live in the out west and i have never in my life seen so much road works in the last 12 months.. I can't count the time we have slowed down below 50 or had lanes closed while they resurface or exstend roads.. But still the back streets suffer..

But a leader for all just wont work, People like that would be loved and you can't be a polly and be kind to all it just doesn't sit well with them.

Stuff like this has been happening for many years, You just don't hear them all until you introduce something contraversal.

So the people who used the Tulla freeway for the last 25 years for free, were happy to start paying a toll...

The whole of Australia is having water problems blame Brack's for that too and speed camera's gee he has left a very bad legacy..

We always blame the last government for the present day mistakes this is politics.

Politics and religion you can debate this for 1000 years its always a no win situation..

Mark, Yes it IS a no-win arguement!.... Freeways, tollways, speed-cameras, hoon laws, smoking bans, survailance in every public used area (1984 cum true)
Damn sure either party would be pretty similar! (revenue IS revenue)

However, The water problem is an entirely different issue!... Bracks & Thwaites have had 3 years MINIMUM with being continually briefed, informed, advised., coerced, prompted.. almost BEGGED by experts in water sustainability that the water crisis was just THAT! .. A CRISIS! Head in the sand Bracks , Thwaites, Skinner of Melbourne Water... the lot of em are to blame for NOT heeding the warnings & predictions... Mark my words (no pun intended mate)... Water has been this pairs downfall....

The above is going on in every State of Australia, banned smoking laws, tollways, lack of water, etc, ect.
If not being able to wash my car at home was his only mistake then in my book he has left on a high note and if you looks at the polls they would agree he went out on the top of his game, like all politicians he now has a nice tax payer super fund to look forward too....roll on the next pollie...
