May have shot 44, but couldn't back up on Sunday.
Shot 55! Handicap dropped to 18 for 18 holes.
Practice Practice Practice! Didn't hit the range at all last week, that was the problem.

A good Aussie Golf Forum I've recently found- www.ozgolf.net

Cheers

THE REAL, TRUE AND UN-EXAGGERATED RULES OF GOLF
1. If you really want to get better at golf, go back and take it up at a much earlier age.
2. The game of golf is 90 percent mental and 10 percent mental.
3. Since bad shots come in groups of three, a fourth bad shot is actually the beginning of the next group of three.
4. When you look up and cause an awful shot, you will always look down again at exactly the moment when you ought to start watching the ball if you ever want to see it again.
5. Any change works for a maximum of three holes and a minimum of not at all.
6. No matter how bad you are playing, it is always possible to play worse.
7. Never try to keep more than 300 separate thoughts in your mind during your swing.
8. When your shot has to carry over a water hazard, you can either hit one more club or two more balls.
9. If you’re afraid a full shot might reach the green while the foursome ahead of you is still putting out, you have two options: you can immediately shank a lay-up, or you can wait until the green is clear and top a ball halfway there.
10. The less skilled the player, the more likely he is to share his ideas about the golf swing.
11. The inevitable result of any golf lesson is the instant elimination of the one critical unconscious motion that allowed you to compensate for all your errors.
12. If it ain’t broke, try changing your grip.
13. Golfers who say they don’t cheat, also lie.
14. Everyone replaces his divot after a perfect approach shot.
15. A golf match is a test of your skill against your opponent’s luck.
16. It’s surprisingly easy to hole a 50-foot putt on your tenth shot.
17. Counting on your opponent to inform you when he breaks a rule is like expecting him to make fun of his own haircut.
18. Nonchalant putts count the same as chalant putts.
19. It’s not a gimme if you’re still 4 foot away.
20. The shortest distance between any two points on a golf course is a straight line that passes directly through the center of a very large tree.
21. There are two kinds of bounces: unfair bounces, and bounces just the way you meant to play it.
22.You can hit a 2-acre fairway 10 percent of the time and a 2-inch branch 90 percent of the time.
23. Every time a golfer makes a birdie, he must subsequently make two triple bogeys to restore the fundamental equilibrium of the universe.
24. If you want to hit a 7-iron as far as Tiger Woods does, simply try to lay up just short of a water hazard.
25. To calculate the speed of a player’s downswing, multiply the speed of his backswing by his handicap. (Example: backswing 20 mph, handicap 15, downswing 600 mph.)
26. There are two things you can learn by stopping your backswing at the top and checking the position of your hands. It’s how many hands you have, and which one is wearing the glove.
27. Hazards attract; fairways repel.
28. You can put “draw” on the ball, you can put “fade” on the ball, but no golfer can put “straight” on the ball.
29. A ball you can see in the rough from 50 yards away is not yours.
30. If there is a ball in the fringe and a ball in the bunker, your ball is in the bunker.
31. If both balls are in the bunker, yours is in the footprint.
32. Don’t buy a putter until you’ve had a chance to throw it and it floats.

Played 9 at the local course today and had a dream start, yes a hole in 1 on the 1st. Was witnessed by a club member and the card signed by him. The club is getting me a small trophy that has a small cup on top of a number 1 that you can put the ball in with my name, todays date and the hole number which i think is a very nice of them to do. Here's my card -

A few absolute bargains I picked up from Ebay US.
Got them for half of what most Aussie Ebay stores are asking, and they landed on my doorstep in 4 days from the US!

Not the flashest or the latest, but they're brand new and will do me nicely!
The amount of spin the 64 creates is mad!

The grips on the putters... Best grips I've ever seen! Nice and soft, yet bloody grippy.

Have finally sorted my putting stroke out. So far on the practice green I've been knocking them within 1/2 a foot each time. Improved out of sight!

Cheers

Welcome to the lob wedge club Daz, they will cause you much heartache, but you will keep going back for the fact that they land soft and sometimes come back at you. There are plenty of bargains on ebay, but you have to be wary of fakes. Having said that, I have saved a bucketload shopping on ebay :.

Am loving the lob wedge, getting some serious air now.
The putters work quite well, the RAM (Blue face) is probably the pick of the two.
I prefer a heavy putter, so the Top Flite is still in with a chance.

Cheers

The greatest buggy I've ever used. Smoothy Classic. (www.underpar.com.au)
Sister bought me one for my birthday. Also got the carry rack that clips onto the bottom thrown in for nothing!
Fits a 6 pack esky rather easily!

Cheers

And the rather crap Proline Tourer buggy that the Smoothy replaced.
Purchased in August 2007 from Golfworks Brisbane.
Not happy Proline.

well this thread needs a bump back to the top.

i have been playing nearly every week since this thread started. im am consistantly in the low 50's with averaging 50.

really need to work on my putting as my long game is not too shabby. i can get the the green in 2 on most par 4's but takes me 4+ shots to get it in :

best game so far, a 43, 9 holes par 34 or 35 cant remember
best hole was a birdie on a par 3
played 18 once so far, 127 @ amstel in cranbourne 64 and 63 par is 72ish 18 holes for memory

cant wait till summer. then ill just have to decide wether to go fishing or play golf...

cheers
brendan

Good to hear you're on the improve XG. I've been off the course for a bit, wedding planning has taken over.
Purchased a Nickent 3DX Square Driver from Rock Bottom Golf a while back, it's an absolute weapon! Has solved most of my driving issues. Went from hitting basically no fairways to hitting 70-80%! Missus bought one too, and she just flogs the thing!
I was a bit nervous going with a square driver, but it's worth it!
Also picked up some Nickent 3dx DC Hybrids. Great clubs, can hit them well from almost any lie.
Were retailing the hybrids in the local golf shop for $150 each... I landed them both here for $120 the pair, from the US. Same with the Nickent driver, were none here under $200... Got it here for $115.

Here I am having a crack beach-side with the driver.

And the better half's up close.

Hey Dazza, let me know how much you love that lob wedge when you knife one and send it 150m as opposed to the 30m it was supposed to travel - the amount of trouble 100m behind the green is insane - not that I am bitter or anything ;)

Too true, hence why it's now been benched. Only happened once, but once was enough. (Cost me 3 shots on the wrong green)
I can work the SW well enough to leave the LW at home.
