Okay I’ll bite.........further.

It doesn’t get radared by the cops (private radar in the NT when it was legal – and if so how accurate was the speedo) or it is at one of those top speed at a landing strip events where the cars are radared to prove who was the quickest.

Wouldn’t a GPS be a better way of measuring speed?

Of course I can understand your failure to remember this as you must be dizzy flying in circles due to your enormous left wing.

Brokeback Mountain is just the most recent cowboy movie, I could have used "Marlboro Man" but you and all the other school kids here would probably not remember that either.

Absolute gold. I vote this as post of the year.

Rev28K would that be true speed, ground speed or speed indicated?

Oh dear. I feel that I'm being reeled in again!

GPS would be the true speed measured between points determined by satellites in a geosync orbit around the earth irrespective of inclines wouldn't it? say between point a (X1, Y1) and point b (X2, Y2)

Ground speed (and this is a guess I am so tempted to Google the answer) would include whatever inclines are on the road say between point a (X1, Y1, Z1) and point b (X2, Y2, Z2).

Speed indicated (by the speedo) could be out by up to 10%.

Either that or I've totally misread your question. Are you talking about one of the mobile radar units mounted on moving cars that can measure the closing speed of an oncoming car, deduct the speed of the car that it is mounted to and come up with the true speed?

Aren't we just worried about a car travelling over the surface of the earth? It should have 4 wheels on the ground (!) and running in 2 directions should hopefully help even out wind variations.

Got me hook, line and sinker. Well done.

3 wheels gave it away to me.

Now did I read something earlier about a soon to be manufacturer that has been going broke for longer than I've been alive making a block of flats that was quick only in a straight line?

I like to think I am not brand biased at all, if I really thought the Jeep was a better car, I would say I prefer it! And normally I would rate a 4x4 better if it had advantages in off-road or towing ability. I haven't driven the T Turbo or the Jeep SRT, but I think i am going to say I prefer the Territory Turbo. I wouldnt buy it, but I think it makes more sense than the Jeep. Anybody can make a car like the Jeep, just wack a huge V8 under the bonnet, and of course it will go fast in a straight line. The Jeep really isn't what it's supposed to be... its more a Nascar with Jeep body. If it was to go along the lines of the Cayenne Turbo, it would have ALL the advantages of a Jeep (off-road ability, towing ability) with extra advantages in handling and acceleration. In this category, i would rather pay the extra and get the Range Rover Sport in either the supercharged V8, OR (and preferably) the TDV8. If it had to be a sporty SUV and the budget of $60,000 and off-road and fuel economy were not part of the equation, it would be hard to go past the T Turbo (especially given that there is a lot of choice)

If you think it's bad being in an FPV at the lights, spare a thought for the poor bastard in the RS4 or M3 :( They actually paid serious money to get hosed off by a tractor!

I think the more embarrassing thing is that the Chrysler SRT-8 did a 13.8 quarter mile run in a MOTOR mag a few months back, it's got the same 317kW motor aswell...
