Who cares about how much fuel we all have left, , and who cares how much it costs. . simply beacuse when its all gone, , its all gone !

I am so sick of people whinging about the price of petrol.

Last night on the Sideshow there was a comedian that said you never hear of people whinging when they pay $2.50 for a can of coke, when you can buy it at coles hot for about 60c....

Yep, they are just sitting on it. been finding oil for years in Aussie and NZ.

BAHAHAHA funny because its true... plus petrol won't run out in our life time ... the media takes the information from the source that will allow them to sell the most pappers and give them the best ratings. My lil sis is studying journalism and she says they are told to sell a story not tell the full truth ... none the less the is a truth in what they wright .. what ever that may be

Good plan...except the machines used to build said diesel require oil for lubrication, and oil is required to make the plastics for the trim panels to the wiring insulation...

Then you would have to run said diesel car on it's rims, because nobody could make tyres for it because tyres require oil in their manufacture.

And you would never be able to change the diff/gearbox/engine oil or regrease the wheel bearings of said diesel car, because OMG they are lubricated by oil....and said car would be unpainted as oil products are used to make paint.

Oil for fuel is the least of our dramas - EVERYTHING we make today requires oil or oil products in its manufacture - from the chair you are sitting on to the computer that is in front of you, the carpet in your living room, the bitumen on the road outside, your plates and cups and the food in your pantry.

If we run out of oil we are seriously stuffed - you REALLY want to hope it doesn't happen for a long time.

I think it will happen ~next hundred years though, because the rate of oil the world consumes is increasing exponentially each year, due to under developed countries clawing their way into the first world, and first world countries wasting so much of their resources.

Won't stop me building a 500rwhp ED though

There's a big difference between paying $2.50 for a can of coke than what there is paying $90 for a tank of fuel.

what can we do? nothing by the look of things :S
Also interesting that the Australian Dollar has increased in value since the first post as well (Around $0.60c to over $0.80 - Guestimate!) So in real terms, fuel should be maybe be around the same price as 2005. Which on Tuesday 5th April 2005 i paid 104.5 for Optimax.

I doubt petrol will run out in less than 100 years, but we will stop using it within 50 anyway due to everyone wanting to reduce carbon emissions (well, everyone except those of us that frequent car forums).

^^ i think thread mining is warranted in this case. the relevance being the oiginal post's prediction for fuel price in 2007.

petrol is the least of peoples worries 'when' oil runs out; what about plastic? maybe there are substitutes for oil when it comes to making plastics but im pretty sure oil is a large part of it
Not just plastics, but i remember a lot of other everyday items are made from byproducts of oil, paracetamol was one of them from memory.

As I said - EVERYTHING we have either starts out as crude oil or requires oil in its manufacture.

Then have a guess what is used to move products from factories to your home? OMG!!!! Fossil fuels!!!

Oh this really cheeses me off!! I remember a few months ago when they had an inquiry into the price of fuel. The price of V-power suddenly dropped down fro $1.31 to $1.21, and in only a matter of months it has slowly gone right back up to $1.31 again!! At one point during this period I was fueling up at the beginning of the school holidays and I noticed that it was about 2 cents a litre more exy than when i had fuelled up about 2 days before. I commented to the cashier about the sudden rise and she said "yeh that seems to happen every holiday period". Man I was cheesed off!! Its like seeing flash for cash parked on the side of overtaking lanes, pure revenue!!

We have synthetic oil, so synthetic fuel is certainly possible.

The Germans were using synthetic fuel during WW2 so it's nothing new really, just the cost factor associated with it.

LOL there prediction is a long way out! there will be petrol around for at least 30-40 more years ,may even get cheaper once other fuels are created.
