There are some very upset bitter and twisted replies in this thread.
Can holden do anything wrong? Well apart from starfire, sunbird, tigra, calibra and various failed commodore models such as coupe4, XUV, W427, 427 monaro, gts coupe etc etc. they are in a terrible financial position. They have their PR machine running at full tilt assuring the true believers that all is well and their faith is not wasted. If you are a true believer then your hero can do no wrong. Nazis love Hitler, Liberals love Howard, Laborites love Kev, Fordists love AUs, EAs and even lasers. The true believers and their counterparts, the true disparagers are always the most vocal in any arena, sniping at each other on every occaision. As far as quality of product, manufacturer, dealer or whatever ALL sides have good and bad tales to tell. Mcdonalds outsells Subway by an enormous quotient. Does this make Mcdonalds a better product or does it say more about the average fast food buyer........... And further to this, if you are a Macca fan and a Subway fan lambasts you for eating that (well technically is IS food) do you accept their word and eat Subway or do you recite "two all beef patties......." like a good little blob, cast aspersions on subway eaters on maccaforums.com and read subwayforums.com just to get outraged.... |

Reading that, I just had to see how LS1 forums bag Ford. Pagninating through the "Tar Pit", I couldn't readily find any derogatory threads about Ford and the members seem to be able to air their views quite freely. As a visitor it seemed they are quite comfortable in their skin ... can you link us to some? |

Holden fans have a number of websites they can visit. It appears to me most of the idiots are shunned from LS1 and sent to the likes of commodoreforums. When I visited LS1 it was refreshing to see people complementing vehicles other than those with a red lion on them. That just doesn't happen here. And whilst I haven't been to a Holden site for a very very long time they all seemed to get a lot of posts.
Ford seem to only have the one decent website that generates regular posting.. this one. For that reason you have to wade through the 17yo keyboard warriors (Holden sux etc etc, how many cars have you owned, got booked will I lose my licence? etc we all know them) to get to the meaty topics. |

Yeah Holden can do wrong same as Ford.
Sounds like i can not post here because me personal choice is that all Earlie Holden models from the 48-215 to the VZ are better then anything what Ford had to offer. But i think the FG is way better then a VE!!! So what forum do i belong to? |

What do you want Holden PR to do?
"Hey I am really sorry, our cars are crap, our parent company is going bust and we don't want to build cars anymore so don't buy them" That would be a good way to rescue a company that employs thousands of aussies. Personally, good luck to them, I hope they make it through this with GM as well. We all know the one thing the world does not need is the increase in unemployment the loss of a corporation as large as GM would cause. We would all feel it.

"GM has clearly stated that all of its businesses in the Asia Pacific region, and that includes Holden, continue normal operations and are not directly impacted by this process in the US. No operations outside the US are included in the court filing or court supervised process. "Holden is a subsidiary of GM but we are a corporate entity in our own right, an independent company under Australian law." Heres the link: http://carsguide.news.com.au/site/ne...eat_to_holden/

Ask any cabbi which car they would have ,and why, (given that an increasing number seem to be buying Toyota though not all are happy either especially with Prius( no power))
In conversations with cabbies in Sydney,Brisbane and Hobart, all have said that they would rather holden (more power, more economy, this is mainly vz mind you) however they buy ford because the Falcon is and has always been more reliable Even the much lamented EA and AU got the nod over the equivalent Holden Its all a case of down time ,a professional car cannot have excess downtime except for servicing and routine things like tyres, the commodore just does not cop cab work the same as the Falcon, In the private market however this is not so much a concern so power and economy wins the day, ( We though had owned an EA,for 10 years and now the car listed below,so I suppose i am biased too ???) :

I do agree with you about Holden selling an inferior product with better success than its competition, ie Ford ho do have a better product on the market.

Also to answer another question, i was actually looking at buying a new VE SSV earlier this year but decided to go with the G6ET instead as i liked the turbo 6 and ZF box more than the chev V8 but after the issues ive had with my G6ET maybe i shouldve bought the commodore instead.... Im not a complete one sided ford fan, hell i had a MPS3 mazda (and a SP23 mazda) before i bought the falcon and also a VRX magna and before that a twin turbo subaru and 2 lasers.
