I don't understand why you would spend money on mod's like this and have it for 5 yr's and never drive it, it's only done 1700klm's, and he's not going to get the money that the vehicle is probably worth considering it's condition and klm's, oh well each to their own.

Paul is a perfectionist and the car may have been purchased for other reasons, like shows etc. I know Paul works very hard and mightn’t get time to drive it much.

Cheers, Danny

Good on him for having the ability to do that and taking the time to show the car.

He certaintly seem's like a perfectionist, as the vehicle was very nice, and I admire someone like himself that takes pride in his work, but it must have been hard to not want to drive it, it is a fine example of the AU range.

I was amazed at how many people could appreciate an 'old stock standard' XB, especially when the focus tends to be on the newer cars these days.
Today has given me more encouragement to keep going with restoring my XB.
It was a very clean & straight looking XB, and will give you a great base to work from! Made a great change of model at the AFF stand and shows that it dont have to be new to stand out!

The other thing I'd like to note is David Flint spending the day wandering around the show enjoying himself.
Not only did he turn up and look around, he made a point of saying hello. At one stage wandering by a few of us and, with genuine smile and an obvious aire of enjoying himself, give us all a wave, smile and "Hello guys, hope you are enjoying the day". This was not in response to us, this was before we even noticed him.

David, you are a genuine guy. I've never met you before, only had an occasion to send and recieve the odd PM to/from you but your obvious passion and enjoyment of the day didnt go unnoticed by me. Well done, it was an inspiration to see the top guys of FPV enjoying it as mush as we were.

Well done David, great to see even the guys at the top are genuine and appreciate the time taken by the owners of their handiwork.

I do have a question though - why is Mel washing Jeff's wheels?! Ran out of things to clean? I didnt see her washing the bloody Focus last yr!!! :

Excellent day - we came down from Canberra for the experience and liked every moment of it. Too bad there are too many speed cameras this far south! And how's the form of those guys when getting onto the Hume Fwy (?) telling us to do burnouts. Get real. And to Flukey_XF (and all others who got upset by it), sorry about the doof doof (that's if it was eminating from my car, the green XR6T in ACT section), didn't think it was that loud. It seemed to be attractive a positive response from the younger (and some of the older) crowd, but wasn't aware that it was upsetting you guys. Next time, give me a slap around the noggin and I'll turn her off.

Cheers guys and too bad I didn't get to meet you lads, you have some excellent cars and an excellent display.

Hey guys,

Good to catch up with the old crew and have a quick natter and a gander. Some lovely cars on display and certainly a good range of cars at AFF ;)

I have recently grown very fond of the old school muscle and yesterday only increased my appetite for an X-series project car.........maybe one day when all the planets align and there are 30 hour days

Great day, Great people, Great Cars.

Highlights would have to be the blue XD-E and the S/C Boss

Well, now that I have had some sleep and be coherent I have a few comments.

Firstly... thanks to everyone who turned up on the day. There was a nice selection of AFF cars from a range of series and eras. They were all very nicely presented and gave everyone a good idea of what AFF is all about, being the love of fords of all shapes and styles. Everyone was also very friendly and social, and I think most people enjoyed hanging out together under the tent. It was particularly nice to see people from all our subgroups coming together as one group rather than sticking to their usual crowd, including the e-series and AUfalcon groups and even some of the XR Club members.

Secondly... it is disappointing to see in this thread that some people didn't feel comfortable to come up and say hello and introduce themselves. Please don't hang back at future events. We don't care if you are there with our group or another club, it is always nice to put faces to names, and I think you will find we are a really friendly, easy-going bunch. Don't be shy, come and say Hi next time.

Thirdly.. thanks to all the people who pitched in with setting up the display and the tent etc. It was great to have everyone get involved and certainly made it much easier to get set up than some previous events. I know it is always hard at the beginning of these events, as everyone is busy cleaning their cars and there is always the temptation to get out there and see all the other cars on display, but this weekend proved that when everyone pitches in, the job gets done much quicker and we can all relax and enjoy the day.

And finally... thanks to Craig from ACE for coming and showing his car in our display both yesterday, and the week before at Geelong AFD. It is great to have our sponsors getting so personally involved with the forums, and getting out there and socialising with the members. I hope this trend continues with more and more of out sponsors, as it shows how much they share our ford passion. Next time we want to see the funny car out and about!!!

I had a really good day, and it was great to meet some new people. I look forward to seeing you all at the next event.

Some Pics. A shot of the ORSM Ford Cruises Club just before arrival, kicking back, cleaning cars, admiring cars, having fun, what the whole day is about........ And a pic of a very clean EL XR8, which was one of my favourites on the day.

I don't think it was a matter of being shy, not everyone likes coming up to the tent and getting "who the f@#$ are you looks" I know myself coz that's what I copped when I came in and asked for my show plates, told you my user name and got the look, got told the plates were already given out at AFD and got the look, told me russell would come and see me later on in the day but nothing.Thank god for Casper coming up finding me and introduced himself and we had a ball.
All I'm saying is maybe you try something different in the next display, show"n"shine as I know myself I wanted to meet a few people but I was put off by that.
Enough of my gripe but a big congrats on the display you guys had as it was nice to see some forum members cars in the flesh, saying that meeting Casper and other guys were great. :

Very nice example of an au xr8 ute, you can have it for aroung 30k.
In my opinion I think it's a better buy than a BA considering how many faults they have and also funny to see a BA xr8 and BF xr6 with Tickford snorkels on them. : GO THE WINGS. :evil3:
