Cheers guys, I am not getting carried away yet, and the end of the day its a 10 week placement. But its a pretty good start.

I have NFI whats happening over Christmas still, hopefully find out next week. We are on a 5/2 roster so I dont think we will get much, but if I am up here then I will do my best to catch up. Although I am relying on public transport at the moment as it wasnt worth bringing my car up.

BTW..I understand now why people pay more for Tel$tra....

Quick question
Looking at doing this course in the New Year
It's 4k...... is it worth it ? is it necessary ? is it a scam ?
Very hard to know what's real and what's necessary out there
Cheers

I have just stared applying for work in various mines. No luck yet, I will persist though need a change from the building industry. Glad to see there are a few members gaining new jobs in the mines.

We asked him if the engine had actually been called “Seagull” and how that came about.
“Actually it was just call “Gull”, because I named it that. Because we knew it was going to poo on everything”.

I did not get employee of the year you muppet dazzla
They gave me an (weekly) award because i'm making the rest of the established crew look bad, without even trying!
2 weeks into the gig with this mob that i came on board to be an excavator/plant operator and i have been driving the service truck the whole time. Haven't exactly found my fit yet.
Anyway we will see if i can get that pass out in the new year.

Let this be a warning to any of you that expect to land a particular job, you may be put into a role that needs filling in the interim, no matter what you sign up as. Could be labouring, lolipopping, cleaning etc...

I had a phone call earlier this week offering me a job I applied for about 4 - 6 months ago. When I said thanks but I already have another job I am happy with, she was like ' well you could of let us know you had other employment'. Was a bit caught by surprise so I said a phone call or email saying I had been short listed would of been nice. Am I supposed to not take any other job just in case you call me back in the next 4 months. The phone call endend abruptly after that.

Nice pics Daz, I've casually read this thread since it started and it's pretty great to see you started out looking and then managed to get a job in the mines.

What exactly do you do, drive a dump truck and where?

I'm not interested in working in the mines, just curious.

XR6menace and I started the 1st day of the year back at work yesterday, in the classroom reading updated SOP's and rewriting our JHA's ALLday loooong.
This is what you can expect at just the construction phase of a mine, they aint mining here yet. Us newbees did this stuff already just under a month ago

Heres Daz participating in SOP reviews...

Fortunately today arrived and we got back out in the field and Daz got his 1st taste of operating a front end loader at this place...
