Shit did ANY of you people actually go to school and LISTEN?

There are seven continents as described above.

Australia is the smallest continent and together with a shit load of islands like Tasmania, Kangaroo Is, Bathurst Is, Fraser Is etc etc etc make up the "Commonwealth of Australia" which is a sovereign country.
Australia is also the largest island on earth.

New Zealand is not part of Australia because, like Fiji, they decided not to join the colonies of NSW, VIC, QLD, TAS & SA in forming Australia in 1901, WA joined in 1908 (well you know things never happen in a hurry over there)

Papua & New Guinea were never part of Australia, they were British colonies administered by Australia from 1951 until they were granted full independence in 1975
http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0107875.html

Australia does have many external territories it administers.

This internet is a wonderful thing. If you need to find stuff out you just go to google and type it in.... better than magic.

Or just ask any 10 year old school kid who actually does listen in geography class.

Trust me, they don't teach anything like that in geography.

And I knew PNG wasn't a part of Australia as such, but you probably get what I mean.

it must have been a while since you went to school,

you cant actuly expect the australian school system to teach stuff like that in school could you? these days you pretty much have to go to a private school or uni to learn that kinda stuff,

ask anyone fresh out of school or still going to school what they learn and you would be surprised the crap they teach these days....

yeah if you've got fairly thin paper in a big size your alright. But if you keep the same 'scale' of a normal a4 printer page, you got no hope...

Goodness gracious me. Australia is a continent. Oceania is the region made up of the countries such as Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, PNG etc.

I love useless facts....and statistics....and useless facts.
