I know someone who plans to buy one next year but at $1800 I think they'll be changing there mind from orange to black.

I was hoping it would come in around the $35k mark which they've succeeded in doing because realisticly it had to be cheaper then the Golf or it would have been another ST170 but hopefully now it can be successful.

thats fantasic news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lets hope they sell out quickly so that the feista boys get a better chance of getting their XR!!

Not that ford should need a reason anyway...look at the small car market, the more varity and hero cars in the line up the better.

I'll buy an XR6T ute over that - not that I should really compare a 6 cyl ute to a small hatchback! but still...

Turbo Territoy sounds awesome"A bonnet scoop, dual exhaust outlets, new 18" alloy wheels and an exciting interior package" Sounds awesome. Its going to be something spectacular to see in the flesh, cant wait. Heres a picture also. I wonder what the pricing is going to be like, they've also released the new Escape, looks ok, dosnt look too different. And the XR5 is a little beauty, saw it last year at the SMS.

Does anyone know why the Electric Orange paint is so expensive compared to the rest? Top Gear did a test drive off the car and it got an excelleant feed back from them. Anyone else seen the episode? My sister wants one of these compared to the Alsa's she has always loved.

I will take a Turbo Territory Ghia anyday.

I'm led to believe orange paint is the most expensive paint colour to make.

The FWD shouldn't be that much of an issue, Clarkson raved about the handling of the little Focus even in the wet. Apparently there isn't much torque steer either (especially in comparisson to the Vauxhall/HSV thing-a-majig)..

It's a great time to be a Ford fan!!

On the Ford UK website it says something about it being a 'triple-coat' pain or some such. It sure is perdy!

To be honest, I dont think I'd feel shortchanged if I coudn't get my first pick colour, they all look great. I might go Colorado...

I have just recently bought a 2005 Ford Focus Zetec, bit too soon to think about upgrading right now, only had my little pocket rocket about 6 weeks(but believe me I've been thinking about it), I'd love a set of those XR5 rims for starters .

I heard today that are only getting something like 100 in the first shipment so will be quite a waiting list I'd expect.

Halve that figure and you're closer...

The paint is a tri-coat pearlescent paint, it physically goes through the paint shop in Saarlouis 3 times before completion. Very complex paint but has to be seen and touched to be believed, it is stunning.

Can't wait! I'll be working there the next 3 days so come and say hi if you get a chance!

Test Drive? Buckleys Buckleys Buckleys Buckleys Buckleys Buckleys Buckleys Buckleys Buckleys Buckleys Buckleys Buckleys : Not a chance.

Waiting lists will be massive on this one.

The paint is a tri-coat pearlescent paint, goes in and out of paint shop 3 times before completion. A very expensive paint and much longer to paint, hence the higher cost.

Look nice, but I don't like thinking about the cost of replacement tyres.

It is, the cost is a lot more than you'd expect.

I think the FWD will be fine - most modern FWD cars really don't have much torque steer, many don't have it.

From what I've heard, Top Gear drove the Astra VXR with an incorrect suspension setup. There have been a few reviews that have been pretty positive about its setup.

Erm... does anyone know for a fact that the XR5T will be only made in germany? At the moment the Focus for Australia is made in South Africa.

ST/XR5s are only made in Germany at this point in time.

The car doesn't have the volume to justify South African manufacture, IMHO.

I'm sure this is going to be a big winner for Ford. Yeah the car is a fantastic little piece of weaponary, but they've also priced it very competitively. Good on ya Ford, its a step in the right direction. :1syellow1

Brilliant price. Make's the Astra VXR at a possible 40-45k a waste of money. Smart move Ford.

After seeing an XR5 in the flesh today, having a sit in and look at features and prices I will buy the better half one. Just awaiting the proof in the pudding, a drive. Ford have done well with this vehicle. Thanks Paul Gorman. :

Had a look at the one they had at the 888 All Ford Day, looking forward to seeing it again at the Brisbane Motorshow. I know I'll really want one then.

But I haven't seen many of the Zetec's here on the Gold Coast, hopefully it will be the same for the XR5(out of sight, out of mind), I'll just have to put the blinkers on when I visit my Ford dealer.
