If you enjoy driving cars (like me), you would get the V8 (XR8) Sedan, and loose the "ye olde oxe-cart" rigid rear axel, and about 78Kgs in weight.

Yes, contrary to common belief, the ute is actually significantly HEAVIER than the sedan.

(The XR6T Sed = 1732Kg, XR6T Ute = 1810 Kg - as per Ford Specs)

You would also gain a very nice IRS rear end that is lightyears ahead of the ute's museum piece - and which is much more rewarding for the driver.

BTW, the Auto has Sequential Sports Shift - and can be used just like a manual.

If Ford are just going to release the FH as a little visual style upgrade with no significant tech upgrades, they shouldn't even bother with the FH at all.

Yes most of the tech stuff is pointless or not necessary to have, but it's what sells cars and makes them more appealing to the car market of 2013 and onwards.

I'd hope/expect the next falcon to at least match or better the standard features on my 2006 BMW.

Must have the following:

4 wheels (not including the spare or the steering wheel).

5 star safety rating.

Good looking alloy wheels

Reasonable fuel economy

Competitive drive away pricing.

The true definition of a real muscle car!

I'm still happy with my BF XR8, has a few creature comforts like aircon, power steering and a 6-stack CD player but more importantly only weighs 1740kg! (according to my rego).

Great to hear the XR8 badge is back too...

Axle tramp is caused when leaf springs get wound up by the torque developed by a fast take off. This cause the springs to distort into an 'S' shape which is unatural so the springs try to straighten out again thus causing a tramping effect of the wheels bouncing.

Likewise with my BA XR8 with premium brakes - although a nice shiny new FH XR8 with circa 350 KW AND much improved (Brembo?) Brakes would definately be Verrrrrrry tempting..and if priced against the Com' SS would be irrestably tempting !

It won't match or come close - they are already saying this to manage buyers expectations.

Basically it is a cheaper exit strategy to proceed with the FG3 update than hand back the federal cash they got to proceed with it. The lesser of 2 evils, path of least expense. Definitely not expecting any cream in the mix.

Ford have already stated that it wont come close to what the VF offers. The new Falcon will be will be on a shoestring, a facelifted FG, thats all unfortunately. We might see blind spot mirrors, keyless entry and a new ICC but thats about it I think.

New ICC with Sync I reckon.

Seriously, Ford need to bring back some of their wilder, hero colours for the FH XR range, the bright yellows, oranges, purples, blues, even greens... who wants every bloody XR8 in base metal silver or sludge grey?

As per Dash's comment, I will be contemplating a new G6et and would like at least this:

1- DRL's
2- HID's
3- Front park assist with radar cruise control (Changes were made at broadmedows to implement this technology and test it).
4. Blind Spot assist (already in Mondeo).
5. Keyless Start / Entry.
6. Auto wipers.

And I want this as well:
Sunroof
R-Spec rear end, and wider wheels
Commodore style E-Flex tech so you could run E85 from the factory, and the computer can adjust as necessary
Better diff bushes (ones that last)
Auto up drivers window
A heat exchanger that works

IIRC the calibration software that was rolled out at Broadmeadows was for blind-spot information systems.

Must be good looking. This means bodykits, wheels, interior and lights. If it comes out looking like a Jag it will do. Good range of colour options too. Big non metallic colours for the XR's.

I'd buy an FH Turbo without sitting in one if they had the following.

Electric seats on G6E/XR6 up (6 way is fine)
Std GPS
Bi-xenons
Led tailights
Better brakes
Auto windows

It doesn't need to be able to park itself or do anything fancy. Rear sensors/camera is plenty imo. Fords so far behind the ball that new potential buyers will already have had cars with all the crap that they never used.

Blind spot monitoring and maybe digital radio but beyond that and the facelifted front and rear, and a bit of the dash/instruments restyled don't expect much more.

No EPAS for Falcon.

The blind spot thing is a must if they want to keep the 5-Star ANCAP rating.

Will it even get a new rear end? I kinda thinking they will do a EF to EL style thing and only update the front end to save $$

The FH must have,

1/ Better alignment and height of the steering wheel ( illuminated buttons as well)
2/ Power Windows that all go up (and down) by holding the Lock (or un-lock) button on the remote (many other cars have this)
3/ Keyless Entry
4/ Better, stronger diff bushes
5/ Less wind / road noise (NVH)
6/ More up to date instrument cluster with chrome surrounds etc.

I don't think we need HUD, auto reverse parking and electric park brake. Just give us decent interior plastics ( that will be a hard one for Ford), decent build quality and a super driveaway price to get most of us the last to be made Falcon. I'm hoping to be.

Consumerism at it's best. Look at what we can't live without...

I don't care what it has- I've been buying Fords for years when they've never had the most gadgets and never been top of the performance tree. I owned three AU's- I'M a Ford Falcon supporter and I'M a minority.

Get on here with your wish lists and call yourself a supporter, personally I think this way of thinking is the death of the Falcon and the greater Aussie manufacturing...
