How so? Which area does the HSV GTS "run rings" around the FPV GT-P (its direct competitor)?

Sad thing is even though the fpv range is better in most departments, this sad excuse for an anniversary edition will probably still outsell the fpv's!!!

I dunno about that. the new R Spec looks like a nice peice of kit.
HSV must be doing it pretty tough if this all they can clobber together for a so called limited edition. At least the R Spec offers material points of difference to other FPV's, this is just a sticker pack from HSV, heck they didn't even drill any extra holes or vents

Forged Rims, Better suspension, nicer interior...And this forum thinks FPVs offerings are better.
Look at the HSV range and then look at FPVs. FPVs still look too plain.
HSV GTS over the top.
The Senator is where its at.

Seriously HSV's 0-100 in 5.3 seconds and 80-120 in 3.5 seconds is "so yesterday's news" as is their antiquated auto transmission. Some aspects of the Senator are nice I will conceed that, none of which are in this motorised mecano set design.

0-100 in 4.5 seconds and 80-120 in 2.5 seconds is where the real action is at.

This isn't about my car but for the record the 80-120 k.p.h. is the measurement I care about as its the best indication of real world acceleration and the R Spec and GT-P will be the same 2.50 which absolutly smashes anything HSV have ever offerred.

Wouldn't buy an R Spec just to get out of the Macca's carpark half a second quicker but they're a bloody nice peice of kit all the same and my point is that FPV's current limited edition offer is genuinely differentiated product at present from regular FPV product whereas on the other hand HSV's so called special edition...oh dear, lets just say times must be very tough and / or they're saving all their ammo for the VF.

I reckon mine would. If the 4.5 comes via Wheels journos just mashing the throttle and seeing what happens as many have suggested then I would be bang up to have a crack using my 245s and a little finesse...........get close I reckon at least.
Swapping the Dunlop factory rubber out for something stickier and I am sure there would be no dramas

For the first time in a very long time FPV have a decent V8.
Next year HSV will go one up again.

Without wanting to be flamed, yeah i know the R Spec is apparently the fastest accelerating car produced in OZ, and is an awesome bit of kit. But it is a limited edition and IMHO shouldnt we compare the regular GT to this GTS seen as this GTS is just a sticker pack?
That said its all good to call it a sticker pack when FPV have produced a few in their time aswell.
Also there is more to a car the driving them flat out down a straight road, i for one would be interested in the both having timed laps around a track to see if the improvements made with the R Spec have paid off in more then just a straight line to rub more salt into the wounds.
Flame suit on, i actually like both cars to be honest. And i think we are spoiled for choice with what FPV and HSV offer.

Dallas I think you will find our friends at FPV will make R Spec running gear run of the mill next year....

Thing about the VE is that is so old... its got nearly 2 years on the FG.... May aswell go buy a 2008 update GTS with the 317 for 38 kay then spend 84 on this.

I do see that point to mate as i said earlier it is an old car now, very old and a sticker pack at that.
Also i think your right about R spec being standard affair next year too, but im talking about what we have now.

Iam a Ford fan through and through but im just trying to be none biased.

Why not compare them, they are both manufacturers current limited edition offerings. If HSV have gone half assed thats not FPV's problem is it?

HSV must have caught the halfarsedness from FPV then, they are the masters of it.

There is no indication that HSV will be receiving the LSA if that's what your referring to. Rumors suggest the LS3 will continue until the 5.5l arrives which will debut in the C7 vette sometime next year.

Yep very valid point.
Thing is this sticker pack from HSV is no different from the GTS whereas the GT R Spec is a fair bit different to a GT as it turns out. Which is good for FPV in the form that it just isnt a sticker pack like usual, but a decent upgrade compared to a GT.
HSV didnt have to go the the effort that FPV did with their L/E as the GTS was already a pretty good car all around.

some people around here need to catch up on the real facts and stop listning to their friends dribble. Forget the Rspec...the current 335 GT is allready faster around many tracks in mag comparos...and this is with SKINNY TYRES and apparently archaic suspension. BULL*&%. If its faster around the track its got the better performance setup to go fast AND its got the better engine and DRIVELINE. And interiors are subjective...both hsvs and the fpvs are old slightly updated interiors..and thats the FACTS. That leaves the plastic ugly HSVs FAR behind in the performance sector as far as im concernd.

Oh then theres the R SPEC......
