This has got to be the one of most stupid things ever. It is a way of brainwashing our kids into a submissive "don't think about what the Gov tell you, just do it" mode.
We got together with a few neighbors and turned on every light we could. One guy even fired up his genny and ran a couple of floods. Sadly only three houses chose to participate in this, but who knows maybe it will take off and we get a whole bunch of people to purposely turn on all their lights during next years earth hour.

I participated by rumbling down the esplanade in my XR6, purposely left in 1st, past the 'earth hour' event, with my stereo blaring and quite possibly using the same kind of power a small house would. I hate my air con cranking, with windows down, not to mention I had my footwell neon lights on.

Earth Hour that.

I was at work but I left some lights on just for earth hour along with 2 PCs here is what i see wrong in earth hour
  1. the power stations can't wind down for just 1 hour
  2. global warming is just hype we are actually in a cooling period atm but that doesn't stop these clowns . don't let the facts get in the way of hype
domestic lighting is a minor contributor to overall load
so i am a bit of a rebel , at least i'm not a sheep

I turned on all the lights, 2 televisions, my computer, cranked up the stereo, and then went to the pub for an hour. "Earth Hour" is a ridiculous joke.

There is money to be made in all this. Why do you think there are so many that give a crap?

There's no money in combating littering. Forget the fact that whales eat a heap of cigarette butts and garbage everyday.

The planet is melting and it's your fault, Mrs Smith. Turn your TV off!

I mainly did it to annoy my tool of a neighbour, who told me that turning my lights off was the least I could do seeing as I drive an "ugly loud V8".

Nuts to him!

The sub stations that produce power dont actually shut down therefore the amount of waste generated from them stays the same regardless of how many people turn off their lights.

The funny thing is that candles are far less economical than using a light bulb....
