Even cars that they bring in from overseas are either crushed or taken back. To many risks involved all round really.

Yeh...

It would be an EX ford Test car, look at the writing / stickers aroudn the engine bay. I would say its an early BF 190 kw motor mule.

This is one car I would love to own, dont know if it was a test mule or what. It does have right hand steer so may of been registered here, dont know if anybody knows anything about this car or what ever happened to it. If it was australian complianced and able to be registered here it would be worth an absolute fortune. Shame to think it may have been destroyed.

THat's a Canadian Falcon coupe, 1967-ish I think. Not that hard to come buy in North America if you really want one.

And because it's built on the same platform the Aussie Falcon of the same era was, doing the RHD conversion is a piece of because all the Aussie steering and suspension components bolt straight in.

Early Seagull mules would have been AU's with a Barra 240T fitted.

If its a canadian coupe then why is the steering on the right hand side?

They were actually built in America rather than Canada. I think that's a once-off that Ford Australia did but it uses the body of an American 66-69 Falcon, just with all the details (grille, taillights, RHD conversion, badges) from an XT

Here's the American one

You,d think ford australia would have had the insight to do a 2 door to compete with the monaro and also to have a two door gt like the monaro gts, ford have been letting us down like this for years.

well i used to work in a v8 supercar team which was a ford team till last year they had numerous x-test vehicles from ford 2au's one was turned into a pitstop car and the other had a cut and shut and was registered also a fair few of their showcars like promocars were registered x test cars had an early ba turbo as a show car and a couple of early ba utes that use 30-40L 100km so thats where a couple of cars go.

That was a concept car, also supposed to have had a 428 under the bonnet. Whereabouts since the show are a mystery

Hornsby TAFE has a few cars like that

EA fairmont with about 40kays on it lol.. wouldnt wanna buy it though..

2006 Range Rover which was brought out here for testing and they couldnt be bothered to send it back home so they gave it to TAFE.

Purgeot 506 with no kays on it.

Even a VN SS, perfect condition with no kays on it at all - apparently they get about 50 offers to buy it a year from students, teachers and other people alike(missing rims though - sittin on chasers)

now they are all used for training with soundsystem instalation, electrical etc etc..

I actually own a 1990 EA series 2 fairmont ghia, with a 5.0l, 5 speed manual factory built at ford campbellfield.

Have original papers from ford stating everything about the "proto build" which is written in text under the parcel shelf

I know someone who bought a WB Kingswood. Holden were worried the Commodore was too small and developed a Kingswood to sit above the Commodore. Dealers rejected it as it looked too much like a WB Caprice, in reality it looked a hybrid between a HQ Kingswood and WB Caprice. Bought it at a plant auction, don't think it can be registered but he did anyway. Not a Ford but interesting anyway.

St George TAFE has something like this too, a Range Rover Sport. They also have a Lexus something-a-rather test vehicle, LHD, no airbags and fitted with a rollcage.

Pity they also have an AUII Fairmont in black there dying slowly..was/is in good condition too :( Such a shame they dont take offers!

I have been told the car was meant to be crushed, and it was built for a ford executive, that went overseas and gave the car to his daughter, who found it too powerful to drive and sold it for $20,000!!
As you could imagine he was horrified when he arrived home and the car was gone!!
My dad brought it in 2001 (from second owner) and a few years ago, Dad was approached by him to buy it back..

I find any history on cars interesting, especially when they are rare or one off's

Former supercar team PCR(Paul Cruikshank Racing) were given a couple of BAXR8 autos that had no compliance plates,.so could not be registered. Paul said something about being left over from fire and crash tests ect. ( Could have been mules)They stickered them up and shipped around the country for there sponsors to show of at there stores. They were mint. Would have been good for production racing.

If I'm not mistaken, there's one of these around Mordialloc in VIC. Don't know the history behind it, and I think it's white and minus the rear spoiler, but def an xr 2 door. Even says so on the number plate...

Will get some pics next time I see it if I'm quick enough...

Here is a crap phone pic of one I spotted a few years ago. Hope it works from my phone. It is the only one I have one photobucket that does not show the numberplate. I think she.said it was a 67(I think) falcon sports coupe or something. An Aussie xr or xt front and steering ect bolted straight on. I will have to get a good pick on day. I see it often. It is a daily driver
