Good bye Bracks. Dont worry. As the most ineffectual and useless premier of all time you will soon be forgotten. Think of your career in office as a fart in an elevator... horrible and annoying at the time but soon forgotten after we all get to breath fresh air again.

Dont let the door hit you in the butt on the way out.

Well that is the sad state of the status quo we live with in Australia, two political parties and a bunch of fringe dwelling fairies. Not much variety, but current party has had a run, lied a bit, as they all do, and is time for a change. Some one else can lie and annoy us for a few years.

Thwaites resigns from Victorian politics
Friday Jul 27 14:00 AEST
By ninemsn staff

The Victorian Government's deputy leader John Thwaites has announced he will bow out of politics, just hours after the shock resignation of the state's premier, Steve Bracks.

Mr Thwaites said he felt in the wake of Mr Bracks's resignation that it was the right time to step down.

"In politics it's important to know when it's time to go and it's not always clear cut, but given the term that I've served and the new set of circumstances that we've got with Steve's resignation I believe now is the appropriate time," he said.

Mr Thwaites, who was also the government's Minister for Water, Environment and Climate Change, said he would be resigning from the ministry and from parliament.

"We have changed Victoria for the better. We have brought back compassion and decency, as we said we would," he said.

Mr Thwaites threw his support behind treasurer John Brumby to become the state's new leader. Mr Brumby, who led Labor in opposition, also received Mr Bracks's support earlier in the day.

Mr Thwaites said "social justice" was the reason he had entered the Labor Party and politics.

"I'm very proud that … the policy which I led is now embedded in our government's policies and budgets.

He said the Mr Bracks had flagged his intention to quit politics one week ago.

But he said he had not tried to convince Mr Bracks to stay on, despite hoping the Premier would change his mind.

"Our relationship is that we're true friends and I don't think that people should do that," he said.

"I wouldn't be here if Steve hadn't made his decision."

I got an sms earlier giving me this great news. And good riddance to him! I kept telling friends that something would have to happen as a result of the incident involving his son and here it is. I'm sure he felt he had no choice but to resign. I'm glad he's gone but unfortunately, I don't think his policies will follow. Whoever takes over will just continue from where he left off, I believe. But still, he's gone :

Smell something "fishy" here?...
Hang on, fish need water to survive, and that's ONE thing we have buggar-all of thanks to the ineptitude of the "mirror" and his "water-wally" offsider!
Trust me... There is a hell of a lot more to this than "family" reasons!!!

Bracks and now Thwaites, today just keeps getting better! :
I only hope Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb are not replaced by Laurel and Hardy.

I suspect Slappa is off to lollipop land in his red helicopter (at our expense of course).

And Thwaites will most likely have given himself a million dollar consultancy position to build the 3 billion dollar desalination plant.

Mind you, damming the Mitchell river would only cost 1 billion and would have saved the Gippsland area from floods, not to mention the equivalent one years supply of Melbourne's water washed down the Mitchell in the last five weeks.

Falcon Coupe.. Bracks & his puppet Thwaites, (and Labor for that matter) have a NO dams policy... And that means NOOOOOOOOOO Dams!!!
Believe me, I have been a member of the Maribyrnong Flood Plain committee for years and have personally met & lobbied these dills!
We presented an absolutely foolproof, environmently friendly, AND cost effective plan to not only forever stop another flood of Maribyrnong, but the means to provide water to Gisbourne, Sunbury, Macedon etc.
Not that it did him any good, but at least Baillieu had the balls to run with it last election!
Good riddance to the pair of them! Pity the average Joe Blow Victorian was too blind to see through their crap earlier!!!! :

That's just crazy, the desalination plant will give us enough water for now, as long as we stay on permanent restrictions.
But that does not take into account the extra 1 million people that will be in Melbourne in the next 20 years.

Andrew Bolt wrote a great article on it in today's Herald Sun, he tore Thwaits a new *** hole.

Actually when he beat Kennett they didnt...
Its history now but its a commonly held belief that most people only voted for bracks to scare Kennett, not actually oust him.. no one actually wanted bracks in, they just wanted to scare Kennett into going a bit easier....
The problem was too many people actually voted for him but for the wrong reasons...

I'm a Victorian and honestly didn't mind Bracks and co, sure they made bad decisions at times but then what government hasn't? I guess only time will tell what will happen now.

Great news!
I'm leaning to what 4Vman said. They must both have something hanging over 'em. Since when do pollies do this? Especially not just one going out, but another that has everything to gain.

Dear Mr Bracks,
I sit here writing this letter sick with the flu, however, the news of your resignation has given me more energy and vigour than all of the drugs that I’ve been prescribed in the last week.

In fact, I have so much energy now that I am more than willing to assist you in cleaning your office out. I have two questions for you, Mr Bracks.

What time would you like me at 1 Treasury Place?
Where would you like me to stick your draconian road laws?

This could be good for the whole of Australia in the long run. We could see the state strangle hold of the ALP get erodde away. And come november we could well see the too far to the right feds get the shove. I would like to see at lease some states go to the conservative and federally go centre or slightly to the left.

Bottom line is, good ridens (SP?) brax..... you have slugged me thousands with your land tax and I dont even live in your cruddy little state!!! :
