That's Ford America. Ford Australia is a different story. Cutting back on models, cutting back on quality cutting back on advertising. I just don't understand how they can be so strapped here.

I wonder what kind of buyer would be attracted by a 4x4 Performance Ranger-based RAPTOR, with a 5 litre V8 and/or Ecoboost 3.5.

xr8lover, this is old news, it was done to death about 3 months ago (edit: Spoolman beat me with link). Ford said they'll give the consumer a chance to decide on it's future, i.e., sales must be improved. I think they weren't going to judge it's sales on the three months which past, but future sales including LPi and FG2 facelift.

Silly rumour mongering wont help
if Ford were to drop the ute it will miss a lot of sedan sales just as wagon buyers to a large part went other brands , if I need another wagon I will go a slightly used bimmer > anything but a territory and the same for a ute , not a chance many people wll accept a ranger in place of a real ute

Cutting back on quality?

If thats the case why are TGW's at their lowest levels ever, an indication quality has improved a lot.

Nope. The ute should be safe for as long as the current generation falcon remains in production. Its development has already been paid for, there would be no benefit to stopping it before then.

Joke of the day.

We are building FG2 ute mules now, ready for production. Would they spend a few million developing the ute update only for it to be on sale for 3 or 4 months.

Boss dishes out the burnsauce.

Once LPi and Ecoboost kicks in, the ute may have another lease on life. Its quite clear that consumers demand power train options that are fuel efficient, something that Ford can't offer at the moment and this is why they have been getting pounded.

Interesting facts/ fantasy... ive heard in the past fortnight:
1.FPV are currently building 3 cars a day..
2.Ute to finish by Dec 2011
3.U.S management to visit Oct or Nov 2011
4.Beam axle supplier not receiving any further purchase orders..
5.Redundancy shakeup before Dec 2011 ,plus 4 day weeks till Dec 2011.

My income depends on Ford motor Co...So im hoping this is just rumor & inuendo,so we all keep food on the table,Beerz in the Fridge.

1. Last I heard, FPV were selling over 200 V8 vehicles a month....

2. As Boss said, FG Mules are running around as we speak, Projections are that around 40-50% of ute sales will be EcoLPI.

3. Jay Mays will be reviewing development of styling plans for post 2016 "Falcon", T6 SUV and small vehicle for China
FoA is doing a fair bit of regional engineering work and could mean we are at green light point for those vehicles...

4. Supply contract for supply of rear axles for Ute is due for renewal soon...

5. Broadmeadows is back to five day week, if EcoLPI hits and goes like Ford expects, Ford may need to work Saturdays to keep up...

Down days are because they fell a few hundred short in July cause still no LPi, August as well. With LPi now on line numbers should match up to the build schedule. If fleets love LPi it might even mean it ends up short of what they need.

FPV have been building around 8-9 V8's a day, and we build at least 3 or 4 F6 turbos a day, sometimes more. So those numbers you were told aren't true. Since FPV dropped the price of F6 it has really increased the build numbers.

I used to work at Ford for a total of 18 years, loved the place, so I am a dedicated Ford man, I am in no way trying to ....stir by posting this rumour. I just repeat was comes from truckies who deliver to our facility and hear these stories. I would be the last man who would wish for Ford to fold, I just want to know where my future lies with my current employer. Cheers all.

2nd rule, don't believe anything unless you hear it from management.

You hear constant rumours and 99% of them turn out to be BS.

Thanks for the intell Bossxr8, so much doom and gloom even when planned down days are announced.
Also, will they need time to switch over any changes for FG II when it arrives, I expect that a few stations will have
new equipment to assemble and the line/build times will need balancing and crews trained in new assemblies...

Not sure what's happening with FPV, I understand that their orders are still pretty good,
V8s are still around 200 a month and I-6T has picked up as you indicated...

9,100 Ford sales last month sounds about right fro approx 4,000 or slightly more local builds....

200/month is ~2,400/year just from V8's.

Add in F6's and that would have to be just about FPV's biggest year ever or close to it?

FPV are not selling 200 V8s a month... Not at the moment anyways.. They would be lucky to be moving 50...

As for Falcon ute dead, why? They could leave it as FG Series 1 and stlll sell 500 a month for the next 3 years.
