Good God you small car girls really do crap on don't you. Every thread is a ***** fight, scat gets thrown around and we stand in front of our cars and defend the strength of our 1.x litre engine. For crying out loud, can one thread involving Fiesta drivers on this Forum be constructive and stick to the topic?

If you're looking for something not too dear (under $30k) yet with room to burn, fuel economy and fun to drive, with at least a few options, you're right in looking at a Mazda 6, definitely an LX Focus Sedan (MASSIVE boot) and perhaps if you can stretch a Subaru Liberty. All those are new, cheap to run compared to an older car approaching brake/clutch/tyre replacement and are safer, stronger and usually more reliable. All 3 of those should give you similar room and performance, with the Focus being the cheapest and smallest, but not exactly tiny either. Definitely worth a look.

As for the rest of you, just chill out and keep it on topic please.

Test drove a new Liberty last week, just for something to do. Is a very nice car indeed, I would definitely buy one if I had the use & cash...

Considering the VTi is the base model, and the Sport is the top of the range there are plenty of differences;

Sport has;

Side Indicators integrated in the side mirror
17" rims over the stocker hubcaps
Sunroof
Fog Lights
Leather (visible from the outside...)
Dual chrome exhaust tip (Think each model has dual exhausts though...)

So, that makes a massive difference. : Even more of a difference then the Fiesta LX to Zetec :

Unless of course you were talking about the VTi-L, in which case you got your information (well, model) incorrect. Even then there is still a difference.

I'll chip in seeing as we've got a Mazda 6. You can pick up the Limited new within your $30k budget and get a lot of car for the money. Yes, you miss out on alloys, cruise, a CD stacker over the dearer models; but you still get 8 airbags, ABS, electric windows, single CD, A/C and the same engine / suspension as the dearer models. Just buy some 17" alloys that you like or keep watching Ebay like I did and pick some up with tyres dirt cheap :1syellow1 The boot is huge on the sedan (something like 506 litres) and they have a tractable engine that doesn't need the rings revved out of it.

You can basically upgrade the Limited yourself to similar specs to the Classic/ Luxury. Get the alloys, the remote audio controls for the steering wheel pop up on Ebay for under $30 and can be added in (the stereo system is modular so you can add on the 6 CD MP3 player too if you want.) I got fog lights to fit in the front bumper for $250 off Ebay too. I've been told the cruise is easy to add on?

Faults: we had an issue with the A/C not being the best, but a regas fixed that. It corners extremely well on smooth roads, but ideally the shocks could be better on rough roads. The steering is a bit light, but it's something you get used to. You can throw it into corners and feel the rear end steer you around as it loads up.

A second hand Accord Euro would also be within your price range and worth a look. Take any older Audi A4's for a long test drive as the base models have never been known for their steering feedback/ handling abilities.

Go out and test drive as many cars as you can!
