I enjoy Goodfellas too. The guy it was based on is an occassional guest on a US radio show I listen to and is a complete mess today! Henry Hill. It's interesting listening to him recount stories from that era though.

I remember seeing him on a Mafia show on the ABC a few months ago. Was he the guy who was one of the casino bosses in Vegas? There was one guy on the show who i'm pretty sure was him who recalled the bit from the movie Casino when they flogged those 2 brothers with baseball bats and buried them alive, one of those guys was his best friend.

No. He's the guy that was played by Ray Liotta in Goodfellas. He's currently a degenerate drunk who has bouts of shacking up with a woman and living on the streets. He was on the fringes of the mob because he wasn't wholly Italian but was always willing to roll his sleeves up and get his hands bloody.

He was arrested and flipped after hearing a surveillance tape of his impending whacking and ratted out a whole bunch of guys and got quite a number of them sent to the pokey for a very long time. He doesn't appear to be a target anymore, most of the guys he ratted out have since died or are no longer of any influence of the mob, or consider his life so wretched that killing him would only do him a favour.

When he's not plastered, he has some very interesting stories though.

I bought the Underbelly series on Thursday at JB Hi Fi for $44 I think I paid!

Spent yesterday watching the first 9 episodes. Brilliant viewing and addictive.

I don't think another series would have the same appeal....The beauty this series had is that it was a real life story played out by some quality Australian actors whose role they were playing are now either dead or in jail. The bloke who played Jason Moran was spectacular.
Yeah Pete, got that DVD too. It has to be one of my favourites. Godfather Trilogy is also up there for viewing pleasure and The Sopranos also.

Long live De Niro and Pacino - two of the best actors around.....
