They might be releasing a "track version" that is manual.
The DSG gearbox is a great piece of work. Has all the advantages of a Manual and Auto put together.

Does anyone think it looks like a DB9?
I reckon there are some cues there.

umm. If you put car covers on both and put them side by side, I would say yeah they are similar, but they don't really look like each other if you study them closely.

Looks hot, but not as hot as the concept. Pretty bloody fast too - I wasn't expecting it too be THAT fast (I was expecting 'bout 0-100 in ~4 seconds). No doubt will forces many hi-po manufacturers to lift there game.

I know its more angular, but I still think bits like the bonnet draw cues from the DB9.
Then again, I have had a few beers

Haha, I knew it wasn't gonna be as fast as a 997 Turbo.

Can't wait to see one in the flesh. I've liked the R32/R33/R34 GT-R's... so they've got a good track record.

After all the rumours about it, 4.5 V8 N/A, 3.0 V6 TT, 3.2 V6 S/C, 3.5 V6 TT, 4.0 V8 S/C etc etc... the good old 6-cyl twin turbo thing won out.

What's the best its ~200k here though.

Uh... they still make a regular Skyline. Its not "now called the Nissan GT-R." The V35 Skyline has been in production since 2001 (R34's replacement) and is sold in the US as the Infiniti G35. By the time the new GT-R comes out, the V36 Skyline should be out too.

It is NOT a Skyline, but a Nissan GTR. The Skylines are v36 model designations, where the GTR is a R35 model designation. Nissan still make Skylines, just like Ford Make Falcons.

Skyline's aren't V36 yet are they? They should still be on the V35 (2001-present). GT-R will either be called R35 or R36.

The current Skyline is V35. This will be just called a GT-R and I believe it will be designated R36

Nah, I agree with you. Its not the same, but I wouldnt be surprised if the Nissan designers spent a little too much time ogling the DB9 looking for inspiration.

The side profile of the R36 Skyline is similar to the Nissan GT-R.

Nurburgring

Mix of on roads and what looks like Laguna Seca

Better footage of Nurburgring

I think these date back to the beginning of the year though.

Well here the base model will be well over 100k to the range topping EVO Spec at approx $AUD200k. I think the times come from the EVO spec model.
It will have more power and less weight than the base model. I think that will be the one everyone will be after.

V36 Sedan = Blob
V36 Coupe = Gorgeous
GT-R = Godzilla!
GT-Rs interior looks terrible, the design lacks cohesion. I know, race-chic, but it would be good if there was a sense of luxury. Infiniti GT-R anyone?

Don't like how they've softened the front end design.. interior looks a little drab... but i could live with all that!

Apparently it runs a transaxle (rear mounted gearbox) like the Alfa Romeos of yesteryear
