Two xr6 demos at Stillwell- both 31990 with the annotation at the bottom

It was a couple of weeks back on the back page of the newspaper 'Falcon XR6 Demo 30990 Driveaway,' but I have no proof as I didnt scan it or anything. Certainly remember it though as the price really stood out.

Excellent time to be buying a Falcon especially if you dont really care about getting a 5 speed auto over the updated 6 speed.

All in queensland now last time I looked that not near melbourne so my eyes dont need to be open for those ones

I agree that is a good price and yes ford dealers are dropping the price and yes it will hurt resale for current owners

I still think this will hurt holden big time and ford just need to keep up with the way they are going

Its hard to know exactly how the local Fords fit in though, they might make 70million profit on imported cars like Fiesta, Focus, Escape, Mondeo, Ranger, Transit plus engineering and design work on other Ford products, but might lose 53million on local production and end up with 17million profit. But a profit is a profit!!

he saw a few with slight hail damage at close to that price but in his words " If the car is going to get any damage I want to be the one driving " in other words he only want a car with no damage

we shouldnt be arguing about the falcon anyway this thread is about the dunnydore and the price they are selling for

I don't think this is 100% about keeping no 1 spot, they are trying to claw sales away from Ford...

Local Fords are profitable...

Imported Fords are about breakeven ....

Last year Ford had 12 or so downdays before June.

So how do you think those who own a new to three year old Commodore feel about this?

All of a sudden their resale value has gone through the floor. I suspect more than one will be looking at other marques next time...

FG Falcon has been just ~600 & ~400 sales short of VE Commodore in April & May 2010 respectively.

As you rightly said before, Ford had 12 days before last June and that was after they right sized themselves. Since then, Ford have had regular overtime! Now Ford they are considering an up-balance early next year.

GMHolden have proven themselves to be as dumb and slow as their bankrupted parent General Motors. Their line rate is excessive for the demand of VE. So, just like GM, they discount.

How many do Ford have planned?

It was on track for zero, however things beyond Ford's control have caused a couple.

I take it they're still doing Saturdays as well?

Me. And it's very true. What's the point of selling all those cars if they all cost you money? For ford they are making a profit despite not being number 1... Being top dog isn't a priority. Smartest dog, perhaps moreso....

The resale on them is pretty crummy now.

Good news for those looking at a 2nd hand Falcon / Commodore down the track. Bad news for new car owners.

I still think a new FG XR6 for $32,990 (or slightly less) is the best value new car you can get at the moment.

I dont think as Ford fans we can throw stones at Holden this time.. Have you seen some of the crazy pricing you can get an XR6 for?? And Brand new ones (But Ford are trying to sell them as Demo's, when they are clearly not).. My guess Ford was trying to avoid the negative media (that Holden has now gotten) by calling them Demos! Maybe Ford are not as dumb with the media as some think!!

Holden are incredibly smart. The Falcon has been closing in fast and would have overtook the Commodore very soon IF Holden hadn't done anything significant enough about it. Looks like they just did. Holding the number 1 spot in sales is much more important than people think.
