Ford dealer in Canberra sells mahindras and ssangyongs, wouldn't surprise me if that was the same.

Mate what would keep you happy? 600Kw and 20ton towing? No no no, then the ride would be crap.
Oh I give up
Good on Ford for giving us something that keeps at least one group of people happy enough to give it an award
Worng, Bent8 has nothing against the Raptor, Bent8 simply believes the best 4x4 in Australia should be about more than going fast on rough tracks, thats it.
Bent8 believes the Ranger is the best 4x4 in Australia, just not the Raptor version.
Oh, the Kia Picanto is market leader by the length of the Flemington straight in its class, but i digress...

Obviously no Ford dealer, not even the one he bought it from, would take it back for what they'd have to pay with those k's.
Seriously ...it could be any number of reasons to even a dealer/family friend knowing the previous owner is very seriously ill and they have helped out...sometime it's better not posting then going ahead if you have no idea of the situation.

Oh ffs, i was taking the ****, for all we know the real reason it was traded could be anything, the last person i'd trust is a car dealer having worked in the industry.
Only last fortnight we had a Dealer listing a very secondhand Mustang as a Demo until they were called out for BS.

What do you think they'd say, traded because its not all its cracked up to be..that'll help sell it.

Then perhaps you could add that it was sarcasm or a joke, because quite frankly your "****taking" comments in a number of threads is wearing very thin.

Have a mate who bought a new Ranger Raptor after trading in his Tickford Wildtrak and can’t believe how good it is.... Ol mate also has a 150 Raptor so knows just how what a good a pickup truck is supposed to be.. Yeah it doesn’t have the grunt of the 150 but it has more than enough grunt for what he wants it for!

I think it's important to remember that it never would, nor should, have the same grunt as the F150 Raptor.

Nah, but it wouldn't hurt to be just a little closer.

It's good the Raptor won this since no other proper 4x4s came out in 2018.
What is the Raptors closest competitor? It seems there's nothing until the Jeep Gladiator Rubicon comes out next year.

I hope the Jimny wins the 2019 4x4. Now that's also a traditional offroader.

Let me get this straight.

The RR sucks because it has a 2.5t towing capacity, so won't pull a 3.5t town house down rough tracks, and anyhow, a Wrangler Rubicon is a better 4wd (which makes no sense, if the worth of a 4wd is its towing capacity, 1.6t? And is it going to drag that 1.6t caravan down the rubicon trail?)

Anyhow, 'best 4x4' is always going to be subjective.

It's a question i've been asking myself lately. I have a G6E but live in the outback. Would be hard pressed to find a better car for the long highway drives, but my problem is I don't want to just drive on the highway.

Rock crawling? No. Corrugated outback dirt roads? Yes. Capable and comfortable is a big winner for me. In fact, if I was choosing a 4wd based on those released this year (which I think this particular award is doing) the Raptor would definitely be taken for a test drive.

I don't tow. When I have looked at caravans and campers, I've only been interested in the stuff coming in under 1t.

Mostly what I don't like is it's a ute. When going out in the work utes, my stuff in the back gets covered with way too much dust.

I'm actually more interested to see how the Mahindra scored higher than a few. I'm starting to see more and more of those out here, and as much as the pikup is bloody ugly, it's kind of growing on me.

The Rubicon is good off road, but it's an absolute bucket on road. Live axles, recirculating ball steering etc. I drove a LHD one.

Raptor is leaps and bounds ahead of it on road, although it couldn't match it at extreme rock crawling.

Not to mention the new Wrangler got a 1 star Euro Ancap rating. And people thought the Mustang getting 3 stars was bad.

Would that be a little over 300kW of happiness and delight?

EDIT:I misread your "-SC"..I'd say a LOT over 300kW.

Great it won and no surprise at all, wouldn’t have mattered what was up against it or what comes up against it in the future. Lap around Oz including the Cape and the CSR will prove that.

just reading the rest of the thread. The 2500kg tow rating behind such a capable vehicle is where the tow limit of a lot more lighter/narrower vehicles should be. The Raptors stance is a lot wider than that of a standard Ranger, and it’s heavier.
The amount of big caravans we saw rolled over on the side of the road along the North West Coastal Highway and the Great Northern Highway when living in WA was an eye opener. Narrow roads, huge road trains, big winds with heavy caravans being towed by narrow 2-2.5 ton vehicles is just madness. Many people simply do not have the experience or ability to adapt/plan ahead to the changing conditions of roads around Australia. One combo I remember was a brand new Prado towing a big Jayco, absolutely desinegrated to nothing. Would have been terrible for the persons in the vehicle.
The big vans in my opinion should be left to the 200s etc where they are wide and over three ton when tow ready. Stability control on new vans is a great thing, at least they’ve got half a chance when things start going wrong.

There’s a huge amount of rediculously capable campers that would follow a Raptor round Oz, and plenty of smaller caravans that would more than do the job if you wanted to leave the van at a park whilst exploring the local area - I’d go the camper personally.

I’ve got zero interest in towing big vans behind any dual cab unless it’s the Silverado variety. Cheers
