Haha, comments in the article are the same as mine
"not sure about the wheels though"

and this:
"Originally specified with a 302ci V8, the car has been upgraded to a 351 driving through a three-speed Cruisomatic"

and then look at the subwoofa's!

this is no origional and would be worth $30K at best

Yes, but Bill Bourke's car didn't leave the Broadmeadows assembly line with a 428 Cobra Jet motor.

AFAIK it was built as a 'normal' GT & was then converted in the USA.

The same with this 6-door car, how much of it was as it left the assembly line ? The wheels don't look like XY era. What type of rear discs brakes were they ?

How did the production line jig up a 6-door body. The middle doors must be custom made.

why hadn't there been any talk over the many years about this 6door ?
Over the years we have had countless Ford Enthusiasts here from the day AFF started and going back to when it was full of us on the US site.
Never heard anything about this till now, baffling.

It didn't come off the production line..

"From what we know, the car originally rolled off the Ford lines in September 1970 as a plain old XY Falcon 500 station wagon,"

‘26415’ was sent to BS Stillwell Ford in Kew, Victoria for conversion, where it emerged a few months later sporting a new coat of white paint, two extra doors and a second bench seat. Externally, Stillwell had done little to alter the car’s appearance aside from adding the cut-and-shut mid section. Internally, it was much the same story. Though not strictly factory, it was commissioned by Ford

Yeah, I think I remember it from C V and T mag. probably still have that issue somewhere. Large wheels look silly on it.

Even though Ford commisioned the build, I can't see how it even comes close to being considered a factory build. No different from a hearse etc.

And this statement by the auctioneers in the above link is pye in the sky stuff.

" The vehicle is even rarer than one of three surviving Ford GTHO Phase IVs – the most recent of which recently fetched an eye-watering $1,030,000 at a 2018 auction.

"This Ford XY Falcon Wagon embodies collectability and could be the rarest car ever manufactured in Australia," said Hames.

"It's the holy grail for Ford fans, the only one of its kind and it is in immaculate condition."

Although its got some appeal there's no way it comes even remotely close to a certain Calypso Green XA and certainly won't get anywhere near the former $1,030,000.

What's with the ridiculous holy grail stuff? No one who is into Fords would consider this in any way some type of holy grail car.

Its not really a ford factory car. They are talking it up to try to increase the price. Its just a 6 door hearse. Now who wants that.

There was a pretty rad project post on here about a bloke who bought an XE(?) Falcon hearse without telling the missus, took a mate with him to grab it and it broke down on the way back and that's where the story ended :(

The six door was on display at a Redcliffe show a couple months ago.

So by those words this would be the rarest SV6 in stralya then

It’s getting around in Victoria now.

Why are the windows and roof on hearses so large/tall? Surely they don't need to be so damn tall - coffin isn't that big

But maybe this one would give it a run for its money seeing that it is based on the mighty AU Falcon.

From what I heard $136K, a far cry from what it was expected to fetch.

Not bad actually considering the uniqueness and history of the car.

I can't believe all the hype / miss information regarding this car.

It was not even Factory built or complied and there's apparently more then one of them.

No different to a hearse or a stretch limo IMHO...

You would be better off buying 10 AU Falcons with Low kms and watching them grow.
