Yeah, cheers.

I was referring to a previous post where someone compared it to Shockwave.

I've been searching carsales... it's no wonder I couldn't find any. I can't believe they'd remove octane, viper and nitro. Brightly coloured falcons are the best-looking ones since b-series IMO.

Yeah, if you're looking for nice bright colours on Fords with the new models, you'll be sadly disappointed. I may be mistaken, but it seems like Kinetic or Vixen are the brightest ones they offer now and Kinetic isn't even available if you want it on the F6 E or the GT E. I hate how the manufacturer dictates to the consumer what colours they can and can't have.
That's why I like the prestige makes, they at least let you choose what colour you want. Not just say "here is a boring silver now go away.." (yes I know they cost a LOT more but I'm using it as an example)

It's weird how some colours make it into the next model though. I remember some AU colours like Congo Green and Narooma Blue going into the BA series and some BF colours going into the FG & FG MKII. (Seduce, Lightning strike, Winter White & Silhouette)
But of course as others have mentioned, there have been a few that never went past 1 model like Conquer, Acid Rush, Citric Acid, Blood Orange and Breeze to name a few.

Even Holden have tamed down on colours. (Although you still do get brighter choices than Ford/FPV) They replaced their bright Blue 'Voodoo' with a darker colour (Perfect Blue).

So it looks like you can have any colour with the FG MkII as long as it's one of the toned down boring ones that they offer.

I have heard that Voodoo Blue was actually dropped because they couldnt supply it - read on LS1 that the colour (or one of the components that makes it) came from Japan and they couldn't get any more after the Tsunami.

I'm happy with my 'Dash' FG Turbo. hehe

They seem to get rid of colours quickly, Sunburst and Viper got hustled off quickly. They were both top colours too.

I always thought that 'velvet' was a great colour, with a really classy look to it. Was hoping to order it on the next G6ET with the cashmere interior which would've been a good looking combo. Unfortnately it's no longer available.
As someone else has suggested above, the current colour range looks very bland indeed.

I had a XR8 in Nitro in NZ, still love the colour!

Would have to see a Nitro and Kinetic side by side before offering an opinion!

But I do believe bolder "ballsy" colours, mainly in XR's etc, say "here I am, see me go!"

Probably why Citric stood out so much in the BA/BF!

Bring on the boldies!!

Often Ford will release colours late in a model cycle (ie: BF II) that were developed for a newer model (ie: FG) to keep interest in during the run-out phase. "Steel", "Breeze", "Silk" and "Octane" being just a few.

Silhouette and Winter white are the oldest Falcon colours (1998 and 1999 respectably) followed by Vixen & Lightning strike(late 2003) and Seduce (2005)..........just a bit of useless trivia.

I think Ford are just following Euro trends with colours at the moment. The Mondeo range is worse at the present, so at least Vixen, Sunburst, Kinetic and Swift provide four options for customers who like a vivid colour. Whilst I love some of the BA/BF's more lurid colours (Rapid, Blood Orange, Citric Acid ect) I dont think these colours would suit the FG shape.

You're not kidding. I went into the used car section of a Ford dealer a while ago and I was immediately drawn to a BAII GT in Rapid. Looked very ballsy and tough. I was having a good look at it when I got talking to the salesman. He explained the owner had just traded it on a new FG GT (Coyote engined). He said the biggest hassle the customer had was choosing the colour. The customer complained the colour choises were as boring as bat poo. I was told that after much deliberation (ie which colour was the least lame) he went for Vixen.

The colour range now is really bad. All the good colours are now gone - Rapid, Breeze, Octane, Blueprint, Bionic, Phantom and Viper.

Sunburst was the colour introduced for the xr50's, yeah?
It's still around, I've seen a few fg2's in it

IMHO it was the best combination that Ford has put out in years. I would go as far as to say that the new colour range is boring. I saw a new G6E on the road the other day and it looks hideous in real life. the lines of the new front just don't marry in with the rest of the car.

Here's a couple of pics to tease you more.

I would love to see a G6ET in the old EF colour called 'Bordeaux'. Very similar to Velvet but it had more of a purple tinge to it, looked great.

Oxford Green from the EL/AU range would look really good on the G series too, as for the XR's it would be interesting to see an FG in Blood Orange (dont know if it would be good though). I'm a big fan of Viper too.

Thats because they don't exist.

FG's didn't have any available with the flip paint. It was only available on either BAII or BF I think. Went green into blue into purple.

Although they had a similar sort of blue green colour on FG's, but it wasn't a flip paint, just a metallic. Looked quite good too.

I like the new smoke colour on the FGII. In the FPV range you can only get it on GT-E and F6-E, don't know about the Falcon's but I imagine you can on get it on the G-series. Shame really, it's a nice colour.

Mystic was the blue/green metallic wasn't it, not the Harlequin flip paint that changed colours depending on the light that was available on either BA or BF for a quite expensive outlay, about $1500 I think.

It was called Fantasy. That was the only flip colour Ford ever put on Falcon.

Mystic wasn't a Harlequin colour.

whilst probably technically not a 'flip' colour, polynesian did a similar thing in the e series. would change from a dull purply blue to bright green depending on the lighting.

i guess people are attracted by the bright colours, but order the darker ones?

Nitro was a great colour, but I only really liked it in the sun, when overcast it didn't look metallic and didn't have as much effect.

I think all the Ford colours are just lame now, especially for the XR and FPV range, bring back the rainbow of bright colours.

I would LOVE to see a GT in citric acid!!!!!

We had a look at the colour 'smoke' on a G6, it's kind of like Holden's grey (alto grey), much lighter then ego with no real eye attracting sparkle, quite disappointed.

Bring back Ego!!
