lot more than just that, just off the top of my head there is "where the bloody hell are you!" "rip your bloody arms off!" Kevin bloody wilson I have never seen bloody as a naughty word, nor bugger!.....true meaning of bugger has been lost in time I hear a lot of "fricken" on the tv lately.......pretty close to swearing isn't it??..or is it?

Doesn't bugger have something to do with sotamy?
Growing up with an English father and grand parents, "bloody" and "bugger" were considered swear words. Even recently I said "bloody" whole talking to my Nan and she had a go at me for swearing lol |

Yeh I agree that it's close to swearing. In saying that the actual "F" word is becoming a lot more common on TV and other media lately. It's becoming very easily accessible with less filtering, and I don't see it getting any better any time soon.

my understanding of "bugger" is another word for sodomy but I think Aussies have taken it to a different place, one that has no attachment to the true meaning anymore, I use it a lot and I use bloody all the time
bloody and bugger were outlawed at our house whilst we were growing up, no swearing tolerated at all but compared to todays language I think they are mild indeed the "fricken" I heard on a cartoon show in the "children's" time slot.....I didn't like it but I thought I was being a bit prudish, which I probably am......I'm not one for swearing unless I'm alone and VERY angry given the choice between the two parallels I would rather hear the lesser of the two

In this day and age I'm surprised that the "F" word isn't being used in TV commercials and newspapers ads. Every time you walk down the street or into a shopping centre it's virtually impossible to avoid hearing it
I know I have used several choice swear words over the years but mainly when I'm lying under a car and things are not going according to plan |

(frack is used in (Nu) Battlestar Galactica). Stephen Fry's Planet Word had a whole segment on swearing and made heaps of swears without bleeping them out!

Funnily enough often I would have been stuck in a waiting room waiting to get paperwork with 30 other truck drivers during the day, I would come home and and any language heard amongst the other truckies would pale into insignificance next to what came out of the mouths of teenage girls next door. |
