At least if a car or motorbike does similar you have a chance of grabbing a number plate.

Then there is the issues they cause pedestrians as they zoom across and along footpaths in an effort to circumvent red lights and other traffic control measures.

Anyone that says otherwise really has their head in the sand, as I used to witness all this daily, since moving from the big smoke to a rural setting none of these things are an issue. So it really depends where you are as it may not be a problem in all places.

There may be a number of cyclists who do not do this but I am willing to bet that 90% will do any one of these things each time they head out onto the road for a commute or ride, be honest with yourselves

Every time i get in my car, I see other cars running red lights, driving without lights on, falling to indicate, failing to give way, speeding etc etc. Of course no one goes around saying 90% of car drivers do this every time they head out. That would be extremely illogical. Strange then that someone sees a few guys riding bikes doing the wrong thing and feel it accurate to label all bike riders the same. Logical?? No!

Stopped at lights today, 2 lanes to go straight through the intersection and 1 turning right lane, I'm about 3 cars back in the turn right lane, light has been red for several minutes, witness a motorbike squeeze down the centre of the 2 straight lanes, actually appeared to knock a couple of car mirrors, gets to the front so now in the centre, turns left straight through a red light. I bet 90% of motorbike riders do this

"Fridgies" used to be specific to Frigmobile.

I can't think what the generic term used to be - probably just "fridge pans" (for refrigerated pantechnicon).

Mind you, I haven't been near a truck since 1980 so happy to learn.

Maybe the problem with negative views on cyclists is this is a Car forum! I wonder if the bike riders forums are majority car hater's?

I don't think there is an anti cycling movement, the movement is what cyclists create themselves.

Like I posted earlier I ride a bike at least 3 to 4 days a week, but I do it in the bush on dirt tracks not in peak hour Sydney traffic, even when living in Sydney I used to ride in Western Sydney regional parklands, or on the cycle ways around the same area.

Not blocking a lane of the Hume highway during peak hour.

Considering how many cars are on the road, I very very rarely see a car running a red light, I can probably count it on one hand.

Re the bikes I see it every single time I pull up at any set of lights in Sydney traffic, without fail.

They will ride up between cars to the front of the cue and balance on their bike, using the traffic light like a stop sign, zooming through when clear of traffic . You can twist it how you like. Alternatively when at a red light they will then ride up on the foot path and use the green pedestrian crossing light to cross the intersection before getting back to blocking a lane when they get past the set of lights.

Sorry but I don't believe you unless you are the only one in Australia.

So when you get to a set of lights you line up at the back of the cue, behind all the cars?? You never overtake stationary cars waiting at the lights to get the the front of the cue of traffic??

You are saying in 5 years of riding you have never broken a single traffic rule??

Again I am sorry but I can't and don't believe it, we will just have to agree to disagree.

Amazing. I saw a very similar thing yesterday. Cyclist overtaken by cars in a polite legal manner, red traffic lights,up he goes to the front and straight through the lights. Then he's in the outside lane holding up the same traffic again despite there being a bike lane he could use! bad riding at its best, not indicative of the majority I agree but I see it regularly.

is that much different to the driver who drives through the servo on a corner rather than wait at a red light, or the driver who will turn into a service side road to avoid stopping at a red light?

Well yeah,if some driver collects the red light avoiding rider as they rapidly manouver in and out of the traffic and pedestrian flow he or she will have that in their memory for life thru no fault of their own. all over the place like a mad person crap as they say,it's bloody dangerous for everyone, the other examples are not kosher either that's for sure but I'd rather the memory of a minor prang with an idiot driver than the memory of a cyclist as my bonnet mascot and possibly causing serious injuries to them. why do they risk it

If there is no bike lane I wait in the queue. Also never run a red light. Fact. I know I'm not alone because those I ride with do the same.

On my drive to work tonight I counted at least 5 red light runners. I won't mention speeders or phone users.

Cool you must belong to the 10% then.

Do the other 90% annoy you as much as they annoy me and other road users??

Genuine question.

Since I drive modified cars, pretty much every car I own or drive is modified and I get genuinely annoyed if people in modified cars act like dicks on puiblic roads as it makes me look bad as well.

It is different as they don't lane split to race ahead of cars stopped at traffic lights only to get to the front of the cue, then to hold up traffic when they get there. Plus they are registered vehicles that can be tracked and easily fined if they run red lights (red light cameras etc).

While someone on a bike will run through a red light camera with no risk of getting prosecuted as there are no identifying markers.

Yeah I am probably being generous in my estimate, as in many years of driving (I am nearly 50) I am yet to come across these responsible cyclists, it's probably more like 5% and 95%, but we can happily disagree on that.

While someone on a bike will run through a red light camera with no risk of getting prosecuted as there are no identifying markers.
you seem to have confused different situations in order to just study the wrong doing by some drivers, maybe 90% of drivers 😉
