How is everyone going with their quitting?
I am currently on day 47, and as it sit not smokes 949 ciggys (going by the app on my phone).. Feeling rather proud of my effort and not to mention absoutly fantastic aswell! Makes me want to know what I use to see in being a smoker and making up excuses for it as I can say I feel so much better... That and non-smoker mates don't mint catching up a bit more ;P... also good to see 2 mates have followed in my footsteps a couple of days ago and also gave up the darts.. so a massive win really They seem to be having a hard time but for me its been a absolute walk in the park..

11 days in. According to the Cessation Nation app, 160 cigarettes not smoked and almost $100 saved.
I'm finding it quite easy to be honest. I guess I was only a smoker for 5 years, some people would have been smoking since before I was born. At my cousins 21st last weekend I was absolutely blind drunk and my brother offered me a cigarette knowing that I'd probably want one in my state. He lit it for me and handed it to me, I held on to it for a second and then gave it back. I'm proud of that, especially considering I was spastic drunk and there's almost nothing better than a ciggie in that state. Stay strong guys!

2 months and counting.
Haven't had the cravings for a while now; got some spare money which helped out during the Christmas period - also starting to put aside savings as well. Been feeling healthier; more energy - signing up for gym next week and will start taking walks/runs outside. Downside is that I've started to stack up the kilos. All in all, made a great choice and I'm happy with it. Sometimes when I'm out with mates and they'll spark up; all it takes is a whiff of that smell and I'll gag.

a BIG thing that helps me stay off the smokes is becoming a fitness addict and giving your new set of lungs something to do........... excercise is great because you continually see results and improvements every week and it encourages you to look forward, not backwards. Ive been off the crap since mid August last year and i really dont give them a 2nd thought, as if i never smoked in the first place. All the best with your crusade !! |

I've lost track now.
I will admit I got trashed a couple of times and had the odd chunz, since May 2012 I've have about four durries I think. Yeah, I was weak, but still, four durries in that time compared to how many packs I would have gone through I think is still some improvement.

mate dont beat yourself up over having a couple of smokes now and then, you give up for the "long haul"
if you stumble a couple of times, but the big picture remains constant then you are winning just keep it in mind that it is your body and what you put into it determines the quality of output and longevity just continue to keep the "goal" in sight and never stop trying

me & the wife save $90 a week without the crap.
you have your moments............ but after going through the process of quitting for ages then starting again for the most stupidest reasons numerous times, you just get over it. Once you realize how much you hate the stuff, it gets easier........ |

Nearly 28 days off them. Feeling better every day. My heart rate at gym has dropped approx 50bpm @ the same level of exercise which is astonishing.
Have been getting the rage a little bit recently, 3 days so far I've counted. Hopefully that stops soon.

I had a couple at Soundwave, as well as my trademark cigar (I'll never give those things up, only the durries) but otherwise coping ok considering I'm going through a bunch of crap at the moment.

Quit on May 27th 2011
Tried a smoke here and there, only able to inhale and cough like a heaving lunatic. Whilst i still like the passive smell of them and dont mind when ppl smoke round me, I dont have any urge to smoke again. 16 years smoker, pack last about 2.5 days and only smoked 4mgs. Took me a few attempts and in the end, i hated them for making me smell and didnt want to get sick. Champix used as well, and used it twice

Was a 30-50 a day smoker for 23 odd years, gave up about 4 times. Haven't smoked for 3 years now, (tried one 2 years ago, made me sick) I don't mind the smell, I just don't desire a smoke anymore. Good on those of you making the attempt, 110% worth it.

Just for a Giggle I bought some more Zyban today (I do this every couple of years, give up...light up...give up...light up etc etc)
This time the prescription was not on the PBS scheme so I had to pay full price ($175 for a pack of 90) When I left the chemists I noticed that they've given me something else, thinking they messed up I pointed this out and was told that what they gave was the same but cheaper. I mentioned that I'd had Zyban before and would rather have them even if they were more expensive. They certainly were.............. 96c dearer !!! Now the Chemist wouldn't be getting a higher markup on the substitute brand would they
